Is It Possible To Be Allergic To Acrylic Nails?
By KRYSTLE VERMES
Artificial nails are very popular if you’re looking for long, strong nails. Acrylic nails get their strength from chemical reactions, and they can last up to two months if properly cared for; however, you should keep an eye out for potential allergic reactions.
It’s possible to develop an allergic reaction to acrylic nails because of ingredients like dibutyl phthalate, toluene, camphor, and formic aldehyde. These chemicals can trigger a reaction, so if you notice your fingers turn pink or red upon coming into contact with nail products, let your technician know immediately.
Luckily, there are alternatives to acrylic nails like nail stickers or nail wraps, but if you want something more long-lasting, consider getting gel nail polish. Don’t rule out press-on nails because even though they don’t last as long as acrylics, they’re just as glamorous and beautiful, not to mention much cheaper.
