Here's How Long To Wait To Use Retinol After Microneedling
By MICHELLE ROBERTS-GARCIA
Microneedling is a procedure that uses tiny, thin needles to puncture the outer layer of the skin, which subsequently causes it to repair and encourages the creation of elastin and collagen. Aftercare is crucial after microneedling, but make sure you've given yourself enough time to heal before reaching for the retinol.
One of the most crucial things to remember after microneedling is to wait before reintroducing your skincare products because abrasive substances and blends, especially those with exfoliating capabilities like retinol, can irritate and dry up the skin. Prior to applying retinols, make sure your skin feels healed for at least 48 hours.
Because retinols are incredibly potent and can dry out or irritate all skin types, they shouldn't be used on skin that has recently undergone microneedling because it will be too sensitive. Instead, use gentle or all-natural products after a microneedling treatment to help your skin from dryness or discomfort.
