The Outdated Outfit We're Begging Lauren Boebert To Leave In The Past

Say what you want about Colorado representative Lauren Boebert's politics, but when it comes to her fashion choices, there's no room for debate. Some things aren't left or right — they're just wrong, and her go-to outfit falls smack dab in this category. To be fair, the politician has good features and knows how to rock a pair of heels. But for reasons unknown, she's fully committed to a rotating lineup of ill-fitting blazers. She pairs them with dresses, skirts, and pants of all colors, but she never seems to bother to get the sizing right, leaving them either too short and tight or too long — and not in the trendy oversized summer blazer kind of way. Worse still, all of her jackets seem to lack interesting textures, tailoring lines, or design elements, and the lapels give that awkward "old-school news anchor from a local station" energy.

Blazers are an immortal fashion staple and won't be going anywhere anytime soon, but there are plenty of modern ways to wear them without revisiting the outdated styling choices we left behind for a reason. Another dated fad the representative clearly loves is heavy makeup, which is the opposite of the soft glam look that's currently trendy. Ironically, Lauren Boebert's appearance without makeup reveals that she actually looks better when she tones it down. But with her disagreeable blazers and cakey makeup, is there hope for her fashion sense?

Lauren Boebert can take her blazers from nay to yay with this styling tip

Given Lauren Boebert's love for ill-fitting and inappropriate outfits, it's tempting to suggest a total wardrobe overhaul. Still, there's some good news: Blazers can still be her thing — just not these ones. With a few styling tweaks, the representative could go from looking like she got dressed during a power outage to channeling the boss energy she's clearly aiming for.

The first and most important steps? Ditching thick makeup and getting fitted for a proper blazer. The latter simply involves making an appointment at a reputable store and getting measured by a professional. Alternatively, she could DIY it and mindfully shop for blazers that don't fail the three major fit checkpoints her previous choices have.

First, the shoulder seams should sit exactly at the edge of the shoulders without extending or sloping. Second, the blazer should button easily, without any pulling or "X" tension wrinkles. And finally, the sleeves should end at the wrist bone, not halfway up the forearm or hanging over the wrists. Bonus tip: Boebert could do with some styling. Corporate girlies know there are a ton of ways to style a chic blazer without looking outdated. The right fashion choices can give confident chic, dark academia, or even night-out energy — it's all about being intentional. This would've greatly elevated the blue blazer and black dress outfit that she posted on Instagram this April.
