Unlike celebrities who have whole glam squads at their disposal, us mere mortals often have to rely on ourselves to look our best. And when you're doing everything from your hair to your makeup on your own, it takes a lot of time, so any shortcuts are worth paying attention to. While you can't rush a perfectly beat face (though our makeup artist has five tips for getting ready faster), you can easily pull off many hairstyles in the nick of time and still look fabulous.

"Shortening the amount of time we spend on our hair can actually be a lot easier than people may think," says Joey Scandizzo, celebrity hairstylist and co-creative director of Joey Scandizzo Salon. The hair guru tells Glam exclusively that simple styles like the balletcore sleek ballerina bun and low-key beachy waves should be in everybody's repertoire for those rushed mornings. "With the right products, you can achieve effortless yet still great-looking hair," he explains. "It all depends on the current state of your hair. If it's been a few days since washing, you may want to use a dry shampoo to revive your hair."

Once you're a few days post-wash, use your dry shampoo before bed to absorb excess oil and get it ready for breezy styling the next day. Whether you want to focus on your skincare in the morning, need extra time to accessorize your outfit, or simply want to sleep in for a few more minutes, these fool-proof 'dos take less than 60 seconds of your time.

The classic slick bun or pony

Classic styles have staying power for a reason. No matter what your style is or what type of hair you have, everybody should know how to call upon a slick bun or nail a sleek ponytail when the need arises. Perfect for hot days, periods where you're going without heat styling, and those times when your hair is less than squeaky-clean, the sleek look comes off looking chic and professional despite being simple enough for a child to do.

"With our Slick Hold Styling Pomade, it makes for a quick and easy hairstyle that can even be great for a wet or high-shine look," Joey Scandizzo explains exclusively to Glam. "Rub the product into your hands, work it through, and then run it through your roots for a slick-back look, or through the ends for a wet look. This is the perfect product to control any flyaways or remove frizz to get that stunning slick-back look."

Once you've prepped your hair with a styling product, you can run over it with a blow-dryer to enhance the product's smoothing effects. Part your hair where you'd like it and then gather your ends into a ponytail, securing it with a hair tie. The easiest place to wear a ponytail for a quick and easy style session is right in the middle of the head; don't go too low or too high. If you want to go a step further and turn your pony into a bun, whirl the ends into the classic ball shape, pinning as you go, and then secure with some more pins. Scandizzo confirms, "Even though you can achieve this look in under a minute, it will last you with a firm hold throughout the day without looking hard or dry!"

Get beachy waves without stepping outside

If you've never done beachy waves before or you have naturally straight hair, this look might seem out of reach — at least for those who only have a minute to spare. But Joey Scandizzo assures us that this is another quick 'do that anyone can achieve; it just happens to look really chic as well! The best part about beachy waves is that the product does most of the work.

"Our Sea Salt Texture Spray is an effortless styling product that can give you that beachy texture, volume, and grit without the crunch," Scandizzo explains exclusively to Glam. "To achieve this look, you should spray into the roots for volume, and then mid-lengths to ends for texture and thickness. Work it through your hair to get that texture, layering it throughout. This quick and easy hairstyle will give you effortless beachy waves that make it look like you spent time styling it."

Additionally, Scandizzo recommends the ELEVEN Australia I Want Body Texture Spray to do the heavy lifting, explaining that it "gives texture, grit, and massive volume that gives you great shape and body to revamp your hair and create a blown-out look without all the time and products." The Beauty By Earth Sea Salt & Texturizing Spray also comes highly rated for its effortless waves.

Twist it up with a claw chignon

A French chignon probably wasn't what you were imagining to appear on a list of hairstyles that you can do in under a minute, but if you add a claw clip, this elegant style literally takes seconds. Begin by gathering your hair behind your head in a ponytail, but don't tie it. Once you're holding it securely, take the ends of your hair with your dominant hand (while still holding the top of the pony with your non-dominant hand), and flip the ends over in an anti-clockwise direction so your pony does a loop and hangs over the other side. Still holding it securely, twist the ends a few times, and then hold the pony up against the back of your head. Secure the whole thing in place with a claw clip, and you're done.

The wet look isn't just for red carpets

A lot of people are intimidated by the thought of the wet look, and that's completely understandable. Most of us would rather shave our hair off than appear in public looking like we've jumped straight out of the shower. The key to a good wet-hair look is understanding that it's a little more complicated than just going out with sopping strands. You do have to style it with gel and hairspray, but the whole thing can still be done in under a minute.

Unsurprisingly, this look does begin when your hair is still damp. Before letting it air-dry, you're going to go in with your styling gel from the middle down to the ends, steering clear of the roots. Comb your hair backward — this step will also help to distribute the gel evenly through the ends — and then add your hairspray to keep everything in place. To make the wet-hair look last all day, make sure you're using a generous amount of light-hold hairspray — achieving the popular wet-hair look is as simple as that.

Those with thick hair could try a product like the SheaMoisture Defining Styling Gel, made with coconut, hibiscus, and flaxseed. Meanwhile, the FRAGFRE Styling Gel is a lightweight option for those with thin or fine strands.

Keep it breezy with a relaxed braid

For those who don't know how to braid, it will obviously take longer than a minute to style your hair in any kind of plait, whether the look is relaxed or not. But once you've mastered the general technique of hair braiding, it can be applied to endless styles. One of them is a breezy low braid that will flow down your back and takes less than a minute to do.

Start by parting your hair into three sections. Flip the section on the right side over the middle section (at the back of your head) so that the middle section now sits on the right. Then, take the section on the left and cross it over the new middle section (previously the right-side piece). Now, the left section is in the middle, and the middle piece is on the left. Begin the process again by crossing the section on the right over the middle, and then repeat with the section on the left. Continue this until you've braided all the way to the ends of your hair.

Even if you have Rapunzel-length tresses, braiding one ponytail takes a matter of seconds once you get the hang of the repetitive pattern. Plus, since this look is giving "chilled and nonchalant," it doesn't matter if you miss a few strands here and there or if the three sections aren't perfectly even. If you want to make this low-key style a little more feminine and sophisticated, finish it off with some ribbon.

A messy bun is as effortless as it looks

A messy bun is another hairdo everyone should have in their arsenal, whether you're often in a rush or not. If you're short on time, this look can be done in a flash, but even if you have more minutes to spare, it's a cool look for when you don't want to take yourself too seriously. The easiest way to wear a messy bun is in a high position on your head (though not quite where you'd put a top knot).

First, gather your hair into a high ponytail. Obviously, you don't need to worry about slicking anything down. Bend the ends of the pony around its base, and this time, you're only going to secure with bobby pins once you've shaped the bun — not as you go. If you have a lot of hair or a thick hair type, you can also secure it in place with an elastic. Be sure to tuck the very tips of the pony into the bun — otherwise, you'll have yourself a tail-out bun — but do pluck out a piece here and there to loosen the style up.

To avoid your messy bun looking so rickety that you look like you just crawled out of bed, run over any bangs with a curling iron. If you're pulling everything back, make sure flyaways are reasonably contained with something like the FUNAN Hair Finishing Stick. The beauty of the messy bun is it's great for hair that's a few days post-wash, but if yours feels a little too greasy, Joey Scandizzo suggests dry shampoo. "Our Give Me Clean Hair Dry Shampoo removes odors and oils while restoring the hair's natural texture and volume," he tells Glam exclusively. "This dry shampoo can give the illusion of clean and fresh hair without having to wash it." For a budget option, check out the Dove Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo.
