The Worst-Dressed Celebs At The 2025 Critics Choice Awards

Strap in, folks, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards are officially underway one week fresh off the Grammy's, and stars are hitting the red carpet tonight looking fierce. Originally scheduled for January 14 at the Barker Hangar, it was postponed twice due to the ongoing tragedy of the Pacific Palisades Fires and their proximity to the event space. Many Hollywood stars have lost their homes or have been displaced during the ongoing wildfires, prompting CCA CEO Joey Berlin to push back the show. "This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all who have been affected," he said per The Hollywood Reporter.

Now that the day has finally arrived, Chelsea Handler is back on stage for her third year hosting the event. Films and shows from all genres and streaming services are competing for awards tonight, but the top competitors are "Conclave," and "Wicked," with eleven nominations each. Following closely behind are, "Dune: Part 2," and, "Emilia Pérez," with ten nominations each. But we're more interested in who came up short on the red (well, black) carpet. Let's get critical!

Lykke Li blended in with the carpet

Come out, come out, wherever you are! It's hard to even critique Lykke Li's look (say that three times fast), as she blends cohesively with the black backdrop and carpet used for the event. A black fur coat jumpsuit-type garment serves as the centerpiece for this carpet, swallowing the singer whole and eclipsing any remnants of what she would have on underneath.

Accompanied by a black kitten heel and some dark shades, we are begging the Swedish performer for a silhouette or splash of color of any kind. In terms of glam, well the shades made that hard to judge, and she styled her short blonde hair into a simple, slicked-down style that leaves much to be desired.

Michelle Yeoh attempted to make a curtain into couture

Michelle Yeoh is a force to be reckoned with, so her disappointing red carpet look pains us to our very core. Her beautiful black locks and dazzling diamonds draping from her neck and ears were clouded by whatever it was that was wrapped around her.

The Balenciaga strapless floor-length gown plays with colors and textures and loses. At the neckline, the medium-blue fabric is cut jaggedly with navy, and the suit jacket-style material looks the opposite of comfortable. She accessorized interestingly, with a chunky bracelet on one wrist that was giving "Inspector Gadget." Oh, we almost forgot, at the very bottom of the dress lies a drawstring, so at least she could tighten and loosen the gown at her ankles to better picture her black kitten heels if she so pleased.

Jennifer Grey was giving Wednesday Addams, and not in a good way

Jennifer Grey threw her hat (maybe that's why she needs to run a brush through her hair) in the ring for the next season of "Wednesday" with her Critics Choice Awards look. The "Dirty Dancing" actress channeled dark academia with an LBD (long black dress) and an accompanying white collar and cuffs underneath.

While the look was recognizable, where she loses us is with the fit. The neckline sits at the base of her neck, with 3/4 sleeves that, from some angles, look different lengths from each other. At her waist and down to the most awkward length on her ankles, the gown doesn't taper or expand into a ballgown, leaving the actress shapeless and a bit dull. Finished with a black peekaboo heel, we can't tell if Grey is gonna be sweating or a bit chilly tonight at The Barker Hangar.

Nava Mau was cosplaying as leftovers

The silhouettes are continuing to be a major bummer at this year's CCA's. Nava Mau arrived at the carpet dressed as the other half of that Chipotle burrito you had for lunch yesterday and will inevitably throw out, but hey, everyone loves Chipotle!

The actress stepped out in an ill-fitting, sparkling silver gown, finished with a visible black halter bra strap and, you guessed it, black heels. We can't tell what's worse: how blinding the glare of the sequins are or how visibly big it is on her. It appears that there's an attempt at a cinched waist that failed miserably, and the gown cuts off at her ankles at the same, too-large diameter. The saving graces of this glam are the actress's bold brows and stunning mauve lips. Maybe she just wasn't done pre-heating?

Hannah Einbender will be auditioning for the role of table

If only Hannah Einbender could get plus two, so she could have one friend sitting on either side of her geometric disaster of an outfit. The "Hacks" actress mistook the carpet for a preschool class when she showed up as an olive green building block and matching heels (hey, at least they're not black).

The top half is fine, we'll give her that, with a corset-style strapless neckline that cuts straight across; but the waist is really where things take a turn for the worst. Einbender didn't give us anything else to focus on with a lack of accessories and simple glam. Chunky gold studs are peaking through but are not nearly stunning enough to distract from the fact that the bottom half of her dress looks exactly like the ottoman in your mother's living room.

Samantha Quan is running late for tennis practice

"Anora" producer Samantha Quan stepped off the court and onto the carpet at the Critics Choice Awards with yet another lackluster monochrome outfit that was only missing a racket and some white sneakers. The floor-length, beige dress leaves much to be desired, with a collared long sleeve on the top half and a pleated skirt that resembles vertical blinds for the bottom. Forget the curtains, queen, we want to see the sun!

The mundanity of the outfit is one thing, but the sleeves awkwardly wrinkling and puffing out make for an obvious sign that the dress does not fit her properly. Accompanied by minimal jewelry and accessories, the only thing that this look does well is Quan's stunning balayage.

Bridget Everett runs on Dunkin'

Bridget Everett sure knows how to laugh at herself. She showed up and showed out in a loud neon orange mini-dress, complete with just one full sleeve, and a lack of craftsmanship that makes it look like the cashier at Joann's was just like, "whatever."

The dress isn't even the most eye-catching part of the look, that would be at her fingertips, a custom Louis Vuitton Dunkin' clutch. The satirical accessory is a nod to an Instagram post from August 2023 where she debuts her Burger King Birkin bag, which she, and designer Seth Fountain, call the "Burkin." We can't help but wonder what might be the clever name for the new clutch.

It seems a toddler styled Joey King for the Critics Choice Awards

There is so much going on here that it's difficult to even find where to start, but it's safe to say Joey King has outdone herself in terms of finding pieces that do not match and wearing all of them anyway.

Starting from the ground up, the actress dotted a floor-length gown that has so much going on you could call it your ex when they don't call you back. The beige skirt with light blue trimming features two seams of rouched texture meeting at a bow that sits on her waist. Just above the skirt at the midriff is a section of black mesh that appears corsetted by the blue lining. Lastly, the top looks like two separate ones; one flows over her midriff that's the same color and material as the skirt, while underneath sits half of a black camisole with white trimming. Choices were made, to put it lightly.
