Marla Maples' Outdated Outfit At The 2025 Grammys Missed The Mark

As the crème de la crème of the music industry gathered on Sunday, February 2 to celebrate their craft at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, many were surely surprised to see Marla Maples walk down the red carpet. Apart from (barely) working in the entertainment industry — the television personality did release one album titled "The Endless" in 2013 — Maples was married to President Donald Trump from 1993 to 1999 and is the mother of Tiffany Trump, who's following in her father's footsteps in many ways.

Now, while it isn't unheard of for celebs from other spheres to attend the Grammys — supermodel Heidi Klum and comedian Nikki Glaser looked fabulous at the event despite not being musicians, for example — Maples just isn't that big of a music industry name to get an invite. Instead, Trump's ex-wife attended the star-studded event as the plus-one of Grammy-winning composer Ricky Kej, who was nominated again that evening. Unfortunately for Maples, her appearance at the event is being talked about for all the wrong reasons. Apart from the fact that some artists heavily criticized her ex-husband's politics throughout the evening, Maples' fashion choices proved that when it comes to the women in Donald's life, Melania Trump isn't the only one who's been caught wearing outdated outfits.

For music's biggest night, Marla Maples decided that outdated was the theme. From the poorly tailored dress to the classic loose curls popularized at the beginning of the last decade, this red-carpet moment had so much room for improvement that we're wondering if a time machine was involved because this whole look is so 2010. We could almost see Taylor Swift wearing something like this during her "Speak Now" era.

But let's break it down piece by piece. The dress was constructed with a questionable fabric that's sprinkled with tiny specks that photographed poorly — so much so that we had the sudden urge to grab a lint roller and go to town. And if the material was a miss, the dress' fit wasn't doing any favors, either. As the photos from the evening show, the area around her waist could have done with a bit more cinching; with it going straight down, all of her shape was lost, and the dress' silhouette suffered. Unfortunately, Maples' side part, her curls, or even the gown itself aren't even the worst part. Maples went rogue and shattered the unspoken red-carpet rule of pairing a floor-length gown with black tights. Yes, black tights. We'll give you a moment to process this utter red-carpet fashion crime that, in retrospect, definitely made her one of the worst-dressed celebs at the 2025 Grammys.

If the Grammys are anything to go by, the Trump family's worst looks of 2024 are bleeding into 2025, and Marla Maples is still caught in this style curse. In fact, her 2025 Grammys faux pas didn't exactly come out of nowhere.

In October 2024, Maples attended the premiere of "Line in the Sand" at The Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, wearing blue, satin cargo pants — a clothing item we truly hoped nobody would ever consider making from a fabric that wrinkles if you so much as breathe near it. And then, in November 2024, she attended the American Friends of Centrepoint Launch in New York City, where she gave us sleepwear chic — except not in the cool, Savage X Fenty way. Instead, it looked like she accidentally wore her nightgown out in public. Oh, and it, too, was wrinkled. Seriously, someone please get this woman a steamer!

Now, don't get us wrong; the Grammys wouldn't be the Grammys without a few fashion disasters — and Maples certainly wasn't the only one who served us absolutely nothing. Still, Maples' outdated outfit is one that's going to stick with us for a while, so maybe she won in the end.
