Reba McEntire has been in the entertainment industry long enough to know that fashion trends come and go, but true style? That comes from the heart. Of course, when finding one's style, a couple of mishaps are inevitable, and while Reba McEntire has undergone a stunning style transformation, she has also had a couple of inappropriate fashion faux pas over the years that have remained eyebrow-raising moments to this day.

Luckily, the "Fancy" singer isn't too hard on herself; in fact, you'll quickly notice that McEntire loves having fun with fashion regardless of what others think of her choices. So, from wearing slippers on the red carpet to showcasing her all-American pride at perhaps the wrong event, here are some of McEntire's looks that didn't really make it onto any best-dressed lists, then or now. But hey, this is a list, too, so that counts for something, right?

In 1993, Reba McEntire performed at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, filling the room — and houses worldwide — with beautiful melodies during her live rendition of "Does He Love You." However, while her voice was flawless, her dress choice ended up taking over the spotlight. McEntire wore a red gown with a super-deep see-through neckline that was a bit spicy for a '90s awards ceremony.

"I was pretty, you know, straight-laced, and I'm sure it shocked everybody that I would do a low dress," she admitted to Yahoo! Entertainment in 2023. "It was pretty scandalous for me," she admitted, adding that her father asked her after the performance whether she had put on the dress backward.

In 2018, Reba McEntire hosted the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada, and for the occasion, she pulled out her iconic 1993 dress from the back of her closet. Now, we have to give it to McEntire: She looked just as stunning in it as she did back in the '90s, but this time, the deep neckline wasn't a shocker. However, to spice things up — and presumably give everyone a good laugh — McEntire posed on the red carpet in matching fluffy red slippers. McEntire isn't a stranger to bad fashion at this prestigious event — she also made it onto our list of the worst-dressed celebs at the 2024 ACM Awards — but this look is still a standout, even among her more notoriously questionable looks.

The Emmys are undoubtedly one of the most important annual award shows in the entertainment industry, and the event certainly deserves appropriately stunning fashion. So, when Reba McEntire showed up to the event in 2024 in a hideous emerald-green pantsuit, we truly wished we could look away. Okay, we're being a bit dramatic, but we have to say that a fashion icon like McEntire should know better than to go for a look that resembles a movie costume rather than red-carpet fashion — not to mention that Reba McEntire's 2024 Emmys wig had us all wondering what's going on with her natural hair, too!

Reba McEntire tried her hardest to be patriotic at the 2002 People's Choice Awards, and for her, that meant wearing the American flag. Unfortunately, the look didn't really land on any best-dressed lists, potentially because it would've been better suited for a country-music awards show, as the genre is known for being pretty patriotic. 

Of course, those who know the star are familiar with her patriotism. "I grew up in Oklahoma and now I'm in Tennessee. I am very patriotic, I am very pro-USA," she told FOX411 Country in 2016 (via Fox News). Still, we wish the venue matched the dress a bit better.

We love it when celebs think outside of the box when it comes to fashion, but sometimes, thinking like that backfires. After all, stylists exist for a reason, and something tells us one wasn't involved in this look (or at least not enough). When Reba McEntire walked the red carpet at the 2009 American Music Awards, all eyes were undoubtedly on her odd jacket choice, which gave us more Jack Sparrow energy than that of a country diva. But hey, with a career and personality like hers, McEntire can wear anything, and we'd still adore her.
