Scarlett Johansson's Most Inappropriate Outfits Yet

Scarlett Johansson has been in the public eye since she began her acting career at the age of 8, and just like fellow child star Selena Gomez, who has had a similarly stunning style transformation, the Marvel actor's fashion has come a long way. When looking back at her clothing choices with Vogue in 2022, she noted, "I never was fashion aware of all the whole fashion world. Like it was out of my kind of vision," before adding, "Seeing all these fashion photographers and models and designers, it was like, this was a new world for me."

Since then, Johansson has upped her fashion game and wears designer clothes that us regular folks can only dream of. That said, not all of her 'fits have worked, unfortunately, and the "Ghost World" star has made some questionable sartorial choices over the years, especially in her Y2K era. Although Johansson regularly stuns with her style, she's clearly had some inappropriate fashion moments, and we're here to break them down for you.

Scarlett Johansson wore Uggs to a fashion show

The early 2000s were full of fashion that screamed, "I just rolled out of bed," and Scarlett Johansson unfortunately hopped on the trend. In 2003, she attended a Jill Stuart fashion show wearing a breezy top, dark-blue skinny jeans, and Uggs. While this was a pretty standard look during that time, the least Johansson could have done was style her 'fit with a pair of ankle boots (white would've been gorgeous here). This low-key look was just not fashion show-worthy.

Scarlett Johansson's Canadian tuxedo didn't match

The year 2003 wasn't a good one for Scarlett Johansson's style. While at a Strange Invisible Perfumes event, the "Lost in Translation" star made the rounds wearing denim on denim, which was worn by everyone from Britney Spears to Christina Milian at the time. It wasn't an unusual outfit, but Johansson failed to match her jacket with her jeans, creating an incohesive effect. Perhaps it was done on purpose, but it looked more like a fashion misstep than a fashion moment.

Scarlett Johansson's red-carpet look that appeared more like an ice-skating 'fit

Scarlett Johansson never fails to surprise fans with her 'fits, and she certainly dazzled in her sparkly, gold Roberto Cavalli dress at the 2004 BRIT Awards. This was a fun look for a music awards show, but the dangly tassels on the short hem looked like something Michelle Kwan would have worn on the ice. In our humble opinion, if the dress was a tad longer, this outfit would have looked a lot more red carpet and less Ice Capades.

Scarlett Johansson's 2018 Met Gala dress was controversial (and not because of its design)

Scarlett Johansson wore a gorgeous, burgundy-and-pink ombré gown to the 2018 Met Gala, where the theme of the night was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." The problem? Her dress was designed by Marchesa, which is co-founded by Georgina Chapman, Harvey Weinstein's estranged wife. ScarJo defended her choice of attire by stating to ET, "I wore Marchesa because their clothes make women feel confident and beautiful, and it is my pleasure to support a brand created by two incredibly talented and important female designers." We applaud her intent, but it was a bit tone-deaf at the time. Would you consider it one of the worst outfits in Met Gala history?

Scarlett Johansson looked ready to follow the yellow brick road

Party-ready metallics are always on-trend, and Scarlett Johansson looked disco-ready with her bright-silver Rodarte dress at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. However, the sheen of the gown was a bit too much, especially under the heavy lights on the red carpet. We would have loved a bit more of an understated silver, not something that resembled tin foil (or the Tin Man). With the added ruffles on the bottom, this gown looked too tacky for an A-list star of Johansson's caliber.
