What Lauren Boebert Looks Like Without Makeup
Republican congresswoman Lauren Boebert is best known for her right-wing activism, which includes heavily advocating for Second Amendment rights. However, she's also becoming increasingly recognized for her makeup choices, which tend to stand out in the House of Representatives. Since rising to prominence in 2019, Boebert has consistently stuck with a classic, heavy makeup look. The most eye-catching part of her makeup tends to be her signature cherry-red lips, which she wears to both formal and informal events. Additionally, she's known to favor dark, filled-in brows, a lot of bronzer, and low contouring. She also leans toward dark, heavy eye makeup featuring false lashes that make her eyes appear larger, as well as black, tightlined lids.
Since Boebert opts for this heavier makeup look for most public appearances, it's tricky to imagine what she looks like without all of that product on. But we need not imagine any longer; in 2017, Boebert went to jail for a total of 100 minutes for failing to appear in court on multiple occasions. The Garfield County Sheriff's Office in Colorado took a mugshot of the future politician in what became the only publicly available photo of her without her makeup (although since this was a few years before her public role, it's not known whether she frequently went makeup-free back then). As expected, Boebert looks quite different without her go-to cosmetics.
Lauren Boebert appeared makeup-free in a 2017 mugshot
The mugshot taken by the Garfield County Sheriff's Office shows a pre-politics Lauren Boebert when she was more than six years younger than she is at the time of writing, so it's not exactly surprising that she looks different. The most notable changes are in her thinner, more curved eyebrows — it looks like Boebert had a head start on the no-maintenance natural brow trend before it was everywhere in 2023 — and cooler skin tone without the bronzer. Since then, the congresswoman also appears to have added caramel highlights to her dark hair.
Naturally, the existence of this mugshot leads to questions surrounding how a politician ended up going to jail — even for 100 minutes. She first received a court summons in 2010 after scuffling with a neighbor over her pit bull dogs, which were reportedly threatening her neighbor's dogs. The incident never resulted in charges brought against Boebert, but she was then arrested twice in 2015, first for an altercation with police and then for failing to appear in court following that incident. Again, no charges were brought. The final blow came in 2016, when Boebert missed court in October after being charged with careless driving in the summer.
While on the 2020 campaign trail in Walsenburg, Colorado, Boebert addressed the mugshot, making it clear that she doesn't have anything to hide or be ashamed of. "I didn't pay the ticket," she said, referring to the ticket she was issued for careless driving, per the Colorado Times Recorder. "But I got it paid. One hundred dollars. And I even got a pretty mugshot out of it." The politician added that the mugshot was "being blasted everywhere to try to vilify" her, and to make her look like "Colorado's most wanted."
Do other makeup-free photos of Lauren Boebert exist?
As it stands, the 2017 mugshot taken by the Garfield County Sheriff's Office is the only known photo that shows Lauren Boebert in her makeup-free state. There are a few that show her with lighter makeup, including with a lighter lip color and less intense eyeliner, but it seems she rarely, if ever, goes totally makeup-free in public. Her Instagram shows that she still opts for a heavy face when attending sports games with her kids or even when heading out to get in touch with nature. While we understand wanting to look your best when you live your life in the public eye, it is still possible to look fresh-faced if you don't have makeup with hacks like using Vaseline as a highlighter and getting enough sleep.
In the photos where Boebert does reach for a lighter-makeup style, she typically tones down the bronzer by either going a shade lighter or wearing less product, swaps her falsies for mascara, and wears a nude or light-pink lip rather than her favorite bold red or candy pink.
