The Biggest Celebrity Makeup Fails Of 2024

As we near the end of 2024, it's time to reflect on all the pop culture moments celebrities have blessed us with. This year has given us a lot to talk about, with all our favorite stars appearing at the biggest awards shows and the never-ending "Wicked" premieres. With that, we now have a lot to dissect, from their hairstyles to their fashion, and of course, their makeup. Celebs hire the biggest and best makeup artists to glam them up during their appearances and they usually look nothing short of impeccable. However, even A-listers can get it wrong sometimes, and unfortunately for them, their makeup fails have not gone unnoticed.

Some famous faces, who usually play it safe when it comes to their red-carpet looks, tried bold new makeup styles this year. But sadly, these experimental takes didn't land. Others thought they were back in 2015 and went way overboard with their beat face. The following celebrities may have not lived through 2024 without a major makeup mistake, but hey, at least there's next year.

We saw celebrities everywhere this year overline their lips for a plumper look, and Eva Longoria hopped on the trend for the 2024 Academy Awards — but it was desperately all wrong. You could clearly see the much darker brown liner stand out against her peach lipstick, which was more obvious as it wasn't blended at all. Longoria's lips weren't the only thing overdrawn — her eyebrows were super pointy and reminiscent of the 2015 Instagram brow trend. We know the Oscars are a big deal but a softer glam look would have suited the "Devious Maids" star better.

Garcelle Beauvais has been rocking red hair since 2023 and it looks like the shade is here to stay. However, the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star tried to match her eyebrows to her cherry-cola-colored bob at the People's Choice Awards and drastically failed. The color was way too light and ended up reading purple, which is never a good color for brows. A mahogany pencil would have complemented Beauvais' red hair much better while bringing out her gorgeous eyes.

Someone should tell Amanda Seyfried that you don't always have to match your makeup to your dress. The giant bow detail on the Giorgio Armani Privé gown she wore at the Golden Globes was a gorgeous, sparkly eggplant color, and for some reason, she decided to go matchy-matchy with her eyeshadow. The actor's upper lids were perfectly smoked out but the color on her bottom lids just made Seyfried look like she had a bad case of pinkeye. This is one makeup fail that had us cry, "Mamma Mia!"

Nicola Coughlan has one of the most stunning faces in Hollywood, which is why her 2024 Emmy Awards makeup was such a disappointment. Her skin looked gorgeous as usual — and we've seen Coughlan look flawless even makeup-free — but the peach eyeshadow did nothing to bring out the "Bridgerton" star's features. The matching blush looked ruddy against her skin and clashed with her pink lip gloss. We would have loved to have seen some drama with a set of false lashes and dramatic brows for a star-studded event, but this look was more suited for a Sunday morning brunch.

There's quite possibly no one who loves a beat face quite as much as Christina Aguilera, and it looked like she piled on her entire makeup stash at this year's Grammys. From her baked under-eye area to the heavy contour, we thought we were looking at Aguilera circa 2016. The "What a Girl Wants" singer's feathery falsies modernized her look, but the overload of bronzer, plus the dark-brown lipliner, needed to be put back in the genie bottle.

Kelly Clarkson decided to go big at the 2024 Grammy Awards, and that included her makeup. It was her time to shine, as the "Stronger" singer had been nominated for best pop vocal album for "Chemistry," which may have inspired Clarkson to pile on the shimmer. The bronze eyeshadow practically took over her face and unfortunately crept into the creases under her eyes, which only highlighted the lines around there. Fighting for attention was Clarkson's beige lip gloss, which gleamed brighter than the gramophone award. This was definitely one makeup look we wouldn't have declared a winner for the "The Voice" coach.

Ariana Grande loves to give herself a button-nose using bronzer above the tip of her nose, as she showed via Vogue in 2023. However, her Los Angeles "Wicked" premiere makeup was anything but cute when she showed up with bronzer several shades too dark on her bridge, which was made even more apparent with the highlighter right on the tip. Along with the streaky bronzer on her cheeks, this was one of Ariana Grande's biggest makeup mistakes of 2024. Her character Glinda may have been a good witch, but the "We Can't Be Friends" singer's premiere makeup was simply bad.
