Haircuts We'll See Everywhere In 2025

Now that the year is coming to a close, there's a feeling of anticipation, change, and renewal for 2025. That means it's time to think about a new 'do and ditch our old hairstyles. 2024 was all about volume and Texas hair was one of the biggest trends of the year in more ways than one. We also saw a surge of fluffy bangs thanks to Sabrina Carpenter, who's had a stunning style transformation since her tween years. We know that trends come and go but it's always fun to hop on the latest thing and experiment with different styles. What better way to be a trailblazer than with the haircut that you'll see everywhere next year?

We don't have a crystal ball here at Glam, but we have consulted hair and makeup artist Luna Viola, an expert in red-carpet fashion, to find out what haircuts are on trend for 2025. You'll be pleased to know that there are several different options, and whether you're itching for a dramatic cut or want to keep your length, we've got you covered.

Expect to see all types of bobs in 2025

A classic bob will always be in style, and hair expert Luna Viola exclusively told us we'll see all kinds of variations of them in 2025. "Bobs are definitely here to stay in all shapes and forms. From the micro mini bob to the Italian soft layered bob, the jawline bob will be a big trend whether it's sharp or shaggy," she shared. If you're looking for a huge change, the micro mini bob is for you. Just like the name suggests, the cut is super short with the blunt ends grazing the chin or shorter. The style is meant to be worn sleek and will perfectly complement your stealth-wealth or quiet-luxury look.

The Italian bob, on the other hand, is worn a bit longer and messier. While the micro mini bob is all one length, the Italian cut has layers around the top of the head for movement and volume. This haircut is great for those who want to go short but would like to have options for different hairstyles. Whichever one you go for, we guarantee you'll look ultra chic.

Textured wavy shags are a hot take on short hair

Shag haircuts were popularized in the 1970s and now they're back in the biggest way. For a modern touch to this style, hairstylist Luna Viola suggests asking for a textured shag with some added waves. "The wavy shag is a grown-out pixie with shaggy texture, sexy and chic for all occasions," she described. As opposed to a cut with severe edges, Viola stated that the trend for 2025 is all about looking lived in. "Short haircuts will all have a natural finish with soft waves or movement, minimal products, and look very effortless," she exclusively revealed to Glam.

The best part about shags is that you can go as short or long as you want. The most important factor of this style is the choppy layers that are meant to look messy. You also need some fringe to balance out the ends, or you'll just end up with a mullet. If your hair is straight, create some waves with some texturizing spray and a curling wand. Try not to make the curls uniform as the final result is supposed to look rock-star disheveled.

Curtain bangs are here to stay

If you're looking for a slight change-up in the upcoming year and want to keep your signature style, consider getting curtain bangs. Luna Viola predicted in our exclusive conversation, "Face-framing curtain bangs will continue to be a trend for the future, best paired with soft long layers, Sabrina Carpenter style, to soften the face and allow for a more lived-in relaxed look." This type of fringe works with all hair types and is perfect for those who don't like traditional bangs across their forehead. They're also low-maintenance, which means you can let them air dry to fall naturally along your cheeks.

Curtain bangs are extremely versatile and can be cut according to your face shape. Try getting them short and sweet like Carpenter if you have a heart-shaped face, while those with round faces should opt for a wispy cut that grazes their cheeks. Rectangle faces will want longer bangs to soften their features and oval-shaped gals can pretty much rock any style. When in doubt, always consult your hairstylist as they'll know which type of curtain bangs will flatter you best.

Go bold with a modern mullet

When you think of mullets, the cheesy hairstyle worn by '80s musicians may come to mind. However, these days, they're a lot more glamorous and cool, with a modern twist. Hairstylist Luna Viola describes it as a combination of "edgy and retro," adding exclusively for Glam, "This super choppy razored layered cut is getting popular. It's ideal for people who would like to have a fun style while keeping the length."

Mullets are not for the faint of heart so if you're looking for something bold, this is the style you want. Zendaya debuted an extreme one in 2016 with super-short bangs and choppy layers in the back. And, in 2020, Miley Cyrus showed off a shorter version with the ends just hitting her shoulders. However, if that's too drastic for you, you can choose a subtle style that resembles more of a trendy wolf cut. With so many variations of the modern mullet, you'll never run out of different ways to rock them.

Give your long hair romantic lengthy layers

We have great news for folks with long hair going into 2025: Lengthy locks are in and the new year is going to be all about layers, according to Luna Viola. "A long layered haircut is a timeless style that will always stay on trend. It's versatile and suits most face shapes and any hair type," she exclusively told Glam. With this style, Viola thinks big, voluminous waves will be perfect for adding glamour to your look. If you have naturally wavy hair, you're already halfway to achieving the bombshell blowout. Divide your damp hair into sections and use a large round brush while aiming the blow dryer from your roots to the ends. Be sure not to use the highest heat setting or you can risk damaging your strands.

If you have straight hair, use a large-barreled curling iron to give yourself va-va-voom volume. Starting at the roots, wrap your dry hair around the iron for a few seconds and then release. Hold the curl with your hands until it cools and spritz with hairspray. Repeat all over your head until it's full of big, bouncy waves. When you're done, run your fingers through your hair for a slightly tousled look because, after all, there's nothing more romantic-looking than bedhead hair.
