Red Flags In Kylie And Jason Kelce's Relationship

Jason and Kylie Kelce have one of the most solid relationships in the sports world, with the mom of three having shown constant support for her husband while he was actively playing in the NFL. Now that Jason's retired, he keeps busy with his podcast "New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce," which he co-hosts with his brother Travis, with Kylie often dropping in to share her thoughts about marriage and parenting. She recently clapped back at Jason's advice for getting through a dry spell, which included wearing tight pants and putting "Baywatch" on the television. "If I had to guess based on my husband's dumba** response to this question, I would say that he's probably gonna experience a spell of his wife not being interested," Kylie stated on TikTok.

Of course, Kylie was joking, and Susan Trombetti, matchmaker and CEO of Exclusive Matchmaking, told Glam exclusively, "When it comes to Jason and Kylie Kelce, they make the cutest couple and are adored by many. They are very relatable to a lot of people, especially after their documentary." However, she also can't ignore several red flags in their relationship and just because the two seem like an ordinary pair, some signs indicate that things are far from perfect.

Many fans may not know this juicy tidbit about Jason and Kylie Kelce, but they met on Tinder and their first date was anything but romantic. As told by former Philadelphia Eagles player Beau Allen on his podcast "Fax and The King," Jason had gone to an event prior to the date where he had several drinks. By the time he was at the bar to meet Kylie for the first time, the retired center was snoozing on the bar and had to be carried out by Allen. While matchmaker Susan Trombetti doesn't think there's anything wrong with having a Tinder profile, she did share exclusively with Glam, "Anyone who drinks to that extreme strikes me as having a problem, however, I can see that perhaps it was a one-time thing."

Back in September 2023, Kylie gave her account of the date and stated on her husband's "New Heights" podcast that she knew Jason was a "neanderthal" from that night. "He fell asleep 45 minutes after I got there on the bar table because he was too drunk," she recalled. Jason agreed: "Not a good first date." Thankfully, there was a second date and the two have been married since 2018. Trombetti pointed out, "Sometimes younger people do this and it's more or less a phase or immaturity. Let's hope he is past this." Hopefully, that was the first and only time Jason passed out drunk on a date with Kylie.

Most women want jewelry or perhaps a pretty handbag for an anniversary present, but Jason Kelce dropped the ball when he gave Kylie Kelce a sword to celebrate six years of marriage. "We got the sword. Kylie loves it," Jason declared on a May 2024 episode of "New Heights." When his brother Travis Kelce expressed his doubt, the older Kelce brother hedged, "I'm pretty sure. I think she does." He then admitted, "I've seen better. It's not that sharp. But it's for show, it's a symbol." Kylie could have used a romantic break away from the kids with him. Maybe that happened, but he only spoke of the sword," she declared.

Not only was the sword unromantic but it was also gifted late. "I am a bad gift planner and giver," Jason stated on the previous "New Heights" episode. He added, "I owe Kylie an anniversary day gift, I'm not going to lie. I'm almost a month post-due on that ... I gotta come big with something." This could be down to Jason Kelce being a Scorpio, which is one of the least romantic zodiac signs, or it could just be a plain old red flag. But it turns out that Travis was actually the one who suggested the sword so perhaps Taylor Swift should take note.

We're learning that Jason Kelce isn't the most romantic guy, but it seems Kylie Kelce, who's had a complete transformation since becoming famous, has known that for a long time. During a "New Heights" podcast episode in September 2023, the field hockey coach recalled, "When he asked me to marry him ... he went to get back in the truck and he said, 'This isn't the most romantic way to do this.' And I immediately started crying because I knew what was happening only because he referenced being romantic. That's how infrequently he is romantic." According to the pair, they were leaving Kylie's parents' house and Jason made the excuse that he needed to use the bathroom so that he could get their permission. Although he had initially wanted to propose with more fanfare, Jason's reasoning for the impromptu proposal was that he wanted to do it before training camp.

Susan Trombetti thinks that, like the anniversary gift, Jason's proposal was a big unromantic letdown. "I guess when the moment strikes you, he must have been full of impulsivity and excitement, but it's so bland. I guess a good marriage is more important," she mused exclusively to Glam. At least Kylie has probably learned to accept that if she wants romance, she'll have to watch a rom-com.

After playing on the Philadelphia Eagles team for 13 years, Jason Kelce announced his retirement from the NFL early in March 2024. He tearfully told the crowd during a press conference shared by NFL on NBC, "I don't know what's next, but I look forward to the new challenges and opportunities that await. And I know that I carry with me the lessons from my time here and that forever we can all share the bond of being Philadelphians."

In his mid-to-late 30s, Jason had already passed the average retirement age for a pro football player when he retired, but Susan Trombetti thinks this is still a red flag for his marriage with Kylie Kelce. "You know it's probably part of his identity, and it must be hard watching his brother still play. Any retirement impacts a marriage and this is no different. This is a huge adjustment that will be reverberating for a while to come, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out," she suggested in our exclusive conversation.

Since his retirement, Jason has scored a job as a commentator for "Monday Night Countdown" on ESPN so he still has his foot in the sports world. Along with co-hosting "New Heights," hopefully Jason isn't driving Kylie up the wall at home.

However, she added, "But losing must bother him which in turn impacts the marriage." There's also the matter of Travis getting much attention over dating Taylor Swift, which takes the spotlight away from Jason and Kylie. Obviously, anyone who goes out with the "Shake It Off" singer is going to be under a microscope, with Trombetti remarking, "It's weird. Taylor almost outshines Travis' career since she is such a huge superstar." Anyway, it looks like Swift and Travis have their own set of relationship red flags, according to our matchmaker.
