Ivanka Trump's Biggest Makeup Mistakes
With her famous parents being Donald Trump and the late Ivana Trump, Ivanka Trump has grown up in front of cameras her whole life. At the early age of 14, she began modeling for big-name designers and walked the runways all over the world. It's no wonder she's perfected her makeup game since, but she also relies on her longtime makeup artist Alexa Rodulfo to help her look polished at all times. During her time as Donald's advisor in the White House, Ivanka stuck with her signature natural look, which she rarely strayed from. "She prefers natural, warm, clean makeup. If there is a message to her makeup, it is one of warmth and confidence," Rodulfo shared with Refinery29 in 2018.
Unfortunately, that doesn't always mean Ivanka gets her makeup right, and even natural looks can go horribly astray. As a longtime makeup artist with over 15 years in the industry, I was able to spot the blunders the former fashion designer made while beautifying her face. We all know that cosmetic mishaps are very common and Ivanka is just one of the many Trump family members who's made some of the biggest makeup mistakes.
Ivanka Trump's court makeup fell flat
In early November of 2023, Ivanka Trump showed up to court in New York City to provide her testimony for Donald Trump's fraud trial. In keeping with the serious reason for her appearance, the former model's look was very demure with understated makeup and her hair in loose waves. While it was appropriate for the courtroom, Ivanka's pale face literally cast a pall over her overall demeanor. Her liner and mascara were just enough to give her eyes some definition but the mom of three could have spent more time on her blush. The subtle swipe of bronzer did carve out her cheeks but she still needed a pop of color to liven up her look. A peach blush on top of her cheekbones would have complemented her skin tone perfectly.
Another area that desperately needed color was Ivanka's lips. She normally favors soft pinks and nudes but this greige shade completely washed her out. We know that brown lipsticks have been in for a while but hers needed to have a bit more red in it. A hint of pink gloss would have given her pout the perfect finishing touch.
Ivanka Trump had a bronze eyeshadow overload
Ivanka Trump was one of the many celebrities in attendance at the "Woman in Gold" premiere in 2015. While the historical film was about a woman trying to take back her family's art from the Austrian government, it seems that Ivanka took the title literally when she showed up with a face full of gold — makeup, that is. The mid-2010s were understandably a time when more was more when it came to a beat face. There was heavy contouring, super-smokey eyes, and bronzer galore on faces everywhere. Ivanka definitely fell victim to this trend with overly sparkly bronze eyeshadow that practically reached her eyebrows. What's more, she extended the color toward her inner eyes, which created an unflattering shadow effect.
The bronze was bronzing on Ivanka's face that night, and it wasn't just on her eyes. Her cheeks were much too orange and the low placement of the color dragged her features down. We get it, Ivanka, you're rich and dripping in gold, but next time, ease up on the copper shimmer.
Ivanka Trump failed to draw within the lines
Ivanka Trump served as Donald Trump's advisor during his four-year run as POTUS but somebody should have advised her on her makeup of choice while sitting in on a talk in Washington D.C. in 2020. Her lipstick was all wrong, from the botched outline to the Sahara-like finish. It looked as if her liner was a shade too dark and haphazardly drawn just inside of her natural lip line. And, while the berry color was a great pick, the matte texture made Ivanka's lips look overly dry. There's also the matter of her false lashes, which looked out of place for a daytime look. If she had insisted on using them, a more subtle set would have enhanced her eyes without making her look like she was going to the club.
Ivanka's skin usually looks flawless even without makeup but that day, it seemed as if her concealer and foundation were doing overtime. If the application is too heavy, it tends to crease in the fine lines around the face, as it did with Ivanka. To prevent this from happening, all you need is a good primer after moisturizing and then to top the makeup off with a good setting spray, which can also refresh your patchy foundation. Simply spray some onto a sponge and pat your face to gently re-blend the makeup and you'll be as good as new.
Ivanka Trump's overly made-up face was inappropriate
Prior to acting as Donald Trump's advisor, Ivanka Trump had little experience in politics but she was a businesswoman advising her father for years, which was why it was baffling to see her highly inappropriate makeup during an event in 2019. While attending the Milken Institue Global Conference in Beverly Hills, Donald's eldest daughter looked less boardroom-ready and more suited for cocktail hour. With her sky-high falsies and shimmery smokey eyes, Ivanka must have confused her nighttime look with her more subtle day makeup.
2019 was all about chunky glitter makeup and it looks like Ivanka fully embraced the trend. However, there's a time and place for sparkles, and it's not at a conference full of business moguls. Her va-va-voom hair only added to her disco aesthetic, but perhaps she was just inspired by her father's beauty-pageant days. Take away the glitter eyeshadow and false lashes, and Ivanka's makeup would have been totally acceptable. In this case, less was definitely more.
Ivanka Trump's runaway eyeliner
Being the president's advisor is no easy feat and it likely takes up a lot of time, which means having to get ready in a pinch. It looks like Ivanka Trump did just that in 2018 during a lunch meeting at the White House with her father Donald Trump and U.S. governors. Her eye makeup looked hastily applied, with a swipe of gray eyeshadow on her lids and a smudge of black liner on the lower lids. It seemed she was going for a smokey look but the thick eyeliner was migrating so low that it caused a panda-like effect. It's times like these where Q-tips come in handy.
Ivanka's brows also could have used a bit more attention with some filling in at the ends with a brush and taupe power. The slight gold shimmer on the inner corners of her eyes added a nice highlight, which would have made a nice transition if she had blended her shadow more. While it's understandable that Ivanka wanted to come to work looking made-up, next time, she should use a lighter hand, especially when it comes to her eyeliner.
