Lauren Boebert's Most Inappropriate Outfits Yet

Those who pursue careers in politics are typically fashion amateurs, and we mean this in the nicest way — fashion just usually isn't their sphere of expertise or their passion. And while there are ladies in the world of politics who wow us every now and then (such as Michelle Obama, who's undergone a stunning style transformation), most of the time, we aren't really impressed by politicians' style. It's all black tuxes and simple gowns, and it can get boring quickly.

This brings us to United States Representative Lauren Boebert. The Florida-born and Colorado-raised politician became a member of the House of Representatives in 2020, and since then, she's been in the spotlight quite a bit. Of course, with her political work has come plenty of opportunities to showcase her style, which Boebert has done unapologetically. And even though we would go as far as to say that Boebert can be quite fashionable, she's still had a couple of inappropriate and odd fashion moments. From slogan-laden statement fashion to almost costume-like pieces, the Colorado representative is definitely fond of taking fashion risks regardless of whether they pay off.

A pro-gun tee that calls out Alec Baldwin is definitely inappropriate

Back in November 2021, Lauren Boebert wore a shirt that definitely made a statement, but we found it pretty tasteless. Anyone who's been keeping up with Boebert knows that she's a gun-rights activist, and while there are appropriate ways to fight for the rights she believes in, wearing a T-shirt that says "Guns Don't Kill People ... Alec Baldwin Does" is a rather insensitive way to make a point, as it uses someone else's trauma as a gotcha moment.

For those who don't know, director of photography Halyna Hutchins died on October 21, 2021, after being shot on the set of the movie "Rust" when Baldwin fired a prop gun. Barely a month later, Boebert used the tragic incident as a means to fight for gun rights. Soon after the incident, the slogan went viral, and Donald Trump Jr. even began selling T-shirts with it on his website, though we don't know if the one Boebert was wearing was one of Trump Jr.'s shirts. Of course, the slogan tee was undoubtedly meant to add some shock value and heat up the national conversation about the Second Amendment, but the fact that an incident in which an innocent person lost their life was used to promote a political agenda is a sartorial move we can't condone.

Lauren Boebert's 'Let's Go Brandon' dress is an inappropriate choice that insults the sitting president

November 2021 was quite a dramatic fashion month for Lauren Boebert. In addition to her gun-promoting T-shirt, she posted pictures of herself alongside former President Donald Trump in which she was wearing a very-memorable, one-sleeved red dress with "Let's Go Brandon" written on its back. The representative posted the image on Instagram with the caption, "It's not a phrase, it's a movement!" and we, like many, were rather confused by the clothing choice.

For those who don't know, the phrase "Let's Go Brandon" became code for "F*** Joe Biden" in some conservative crowds after a reporter misheard a crown chanting "F*** Joe Biden" at a NASCAR race in 2021. Instead, she said that they were saying, "Let's Go, Brandon," thinking that the crowd was cheering on driver Brandon Brown. Of course, knowing the true meaning behind the phrase on Boebert's dress definitely makes this whole outfit a lot more questionable. After all, it's one thing to publicly express dislike for a current president, but wearing a piece of clothing that insults them is a whole new level of distaste.

The questionable dress was designed by Andre Soriano, a Filipino-American fashion designer who has a history with bringing controversial slogan clothing to life. In fact, Soriano is the designer behind the infamous "Make America Great Again" gown that musician Joy Villa wore on the 2017 Grammy Awards red carpet.

A white minidress for a meeting with former President Donald Trump wouldn't be our top pick

Anyone who's been keeping up with Lauren Boebert knows that she loves rocking minidresses. While we're all for wearing what you like, we can't help but think that a white minidress whose hemline probably wouldn't pass the dress code at many schools isn't the most appropriate choice for a conversation with former President Donald Trump or the House Republican Conference in Washington, D.C.

It was precisely for that occasion in June 2024 that the representative pulled out a white bodycon dress from her closet. She paired the dress with a blue blazer, which seemed like an odd choice, as blue is usually associated with the Democratic Party (we'll delve into her love for blue some more later on). In fact, the only red thing she was wearing was lipstick, and here at Glam, we can't really say anything bad against that choice. In fact, we also have to give credit where credit is due. Boebert may not have gone the route we would have with her outfit, but her hair was a whole different story. Styled in perfect loose curls, her hairstyle exuded a great mix of confidence and subtle casualness.

Lauren Boeber should know better than to wear a pencil dress with high heels to a construction site

In May 2023, Lauren Boebert shared images of herself visiting a reservoir construction site on Facebook. "It was great visiting the future site of a new reservoir being built by the Conejos Water Conservancy District," she wrote in the post. "I am working to secure critical funding for water storage and delivery projects that will store water during dry times and combat western drought."

Unfortunately, it seems as if Boebert didn't really consider the fact that a construction site is often very dusty, filled with gravel, and cluttered with raw materials when she was getting dressed that morning. The representative showed up at the construction location not only in a teal, satin-like pencil dress, which was undoubtedly too fancy for the visit, but she also paired it with strappy, animal-print high heels. Now, we absolutely love this look, but not for this occasion! In fact, we can't even imagine the amount of sand that got in between Boebert's toes just from walking around for a couple of minutes. A simpler and more casual look with close-toed shoes would have been a much better choice, and it certainly wouldn't have resulted in pictures as awkward as the ones Boebert posted.

A denim miniskirt seems just a tad too causal for Lauren Boebert's position as a United States Representative

We're all about the Westerncore and cowgirl aesthetic, but we're not really sure how we feel about a United States representative embracing it by rocking a denim miniskirt. In June 2020, Lauren Boebert posted a series of photos of herself at what seems to be a small "Lauren Boebert: Conservative for Congress" event held outdoors under a white tent.

Boebert kept her look casual by pairing a simple black, sleeveless polo with a classic denim miniskirt and some very '90s glittery platform heels. While we don't hate this outfit by any means, it seems much more suited for a teen or somebody in their early 20s than someone who was, at the time, running for the position of a Colorado representative. Something about this outfit and the position she was going for just doesn't align very well. Then again, it's no secret that Boebert — who was born in 1986 — is fond of everything '90s, especially as she also has a large, tribal-pattern tattoo on the side of her waist, a style that was very popular during that decade.

A pink minidress for a vote on legislation seems like an odd choice

We get it: Every career-focused babe dreams of their big "Legally Blonde" moment, especially if there's a set of majestic stairs involved. However, it's typically best if that remains a dream, mostly because when it actually happens in real life, it looks like your head-to-toe pink look is a costume, and walking up and down those stairs suddenly isn't as cool as when Reese Witherspoon does it.

This is precisely what happened to Lauren Boebert in March 2024. The representative was photographed on the stairs of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., following the vote on the now-infamous TikTok bill. Boebert seemingly channeled her inner Elle Woods in a hot-pink bodycon dress whose hemline is, again, a tad too short for the occasion. Boebert combined the hot-pink piece with a greige blazer and matching heels, all of which looked more like a cosplay moment than an actual United States representative at work. Again, there's nothing wrong with these things — we're just not sure they fit her career. And hey, if she ever needs a fun and quick Halloween costume, she can totally rock this with a blond wig!

A hat with a skirt suit is something we wouldn't combine

In August 2022, Lauren Boebert posted a photo of herself at an Anna Paulina Luna campaign event, and she made it clear that she fully supports Luna's run for the United States House of Representatives. In November of the same year, she became a representative for Florida, joining Boebert as a Republican in the House of Representatives and as a Donald Trump ally.

However, while plenty can be said about Luna's style, it's Boebert's outfit choice in the August 2022 Instagram post that caught our attention. For her speech, she wore a classic and timeless black skirt suit that's essentially a blank canvas for accessories. That said, a baseball hat was the last thing we'd combine with it. Of course, we get that she wanted to showcase her love for Colorado, but couldn't she have done it in a slightly fancier way? Perhaps incorporating the colors of Colorado could have been a subtler and more sophisticated way to show her support. After all, as a Colorado representative, she surely could have come up with something more cohesive since she knows her state so well. Alternatively, she could have ditched the skirt suit for something more casual that wouldn't have resulted in such a complete fashion mishmash.

A T-shirt with a snake on it isn't very appropriate for a United States representative

Lauren Boebert seems to love expressing herself with fashion, and for that, we have to applaud her. However, plenty of her fashion choices end up being pieces we wouldn't really want to see a United States representative wearing, at least not while they're working or promoting themselves. This brings us to the snake tee that Boebert showed off on Instagram in November 2021.

Yes, snakes have been classic American iconography since the famous "Don't Tread On Me" flag of the eighteenth century, but if you ask us, snake imagery in fashion is only appropriate when dressing up like Taylor Swift during her "Reputation" era — and we highly doubt that's what Boebert was going for here, considering the snake's positioning directly resembles the one on the aforementioned flag. Essentially, during a campaign event while she was running for the United States representative position, Boebert wore a black-and-white tee with a snake on it, but it just fell flat, especially since she was standing next to a much more streamlined version of her via a cardboard cutout.

Wearing blue while encouraging everyone to vote red is a rather odd choice

It's clear that supporting her political party is a huge priority for Lauren Boebert, and we don't fault her there. However, one thing we can't really wrap our heads around is her fondness for rocking blue fashion pieces. After all, blue is associated with the Democratic Party, which means that Boebert is, in a way, sending mixed messages to her followers through her fashion.

For example, in August 2022, she posted a series of photos on her Instagram, and in them, she's rocking a royal-blue bodycon dress — a style that seems to be a staple in her closet. In particular, Boebert wore the dress while posing with fellow United States Representative Matt Gaetz and his wife, Ginger Luckey. One thing we can't help but notice again is the addition of Boebert's Colorado hat, which seems to be an accessory the congresswoman can't resist.

Wearing white after Labor Day is a known fashion crime, but Lauren Boebert couldn't care less

On Christmas Day of 2022, Lauren Boebert decided to be the only member of her family to be dressed in white. While posing in a photo posted on Instagram, Boebert can be seen with her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, and three of their four sons. One thing that instantly caught our attention was the fact that while the boys rocked black tuxes — and her ex even decided to go with a festive red button-up — Lauren went with a white dress.

We don't have anything against the dress per se, but we do find it a tad odd that she decided to be the only family member in white, not to mention that everyone knows that rocking white after Labor Day is a fashion crime. Now, while we don't always subscribe to this rule, as there's a lot more behind the no-white-after-labor-day custom than meets the eye, we're surprised Boebert doesn't. Perhaps she simply wanted to be the sparkling star on top of the Christmas tree that year.

Adding a garish tie to her work attire is perhaps the biggest fashion faux pas we've seen yet

We always encourage everyone to express themselves through fashion, whether that means entering one's villain era or embracing the so-called weird girl aesthetic. However, just like everything in life, fashion has its time and place, and for some occasions, fitting in and toning down your style is the key to sartorial success. However, Lauren Boebert seemingly didn't get that memo.

In October 2023, she showed up to work in a look that plenty of folks might misinterpret as cosplay. While the House of Representatives was focusing on important voting matters, Boebert looked like someone who could easily be in the background of a "Harry Potter" movie. In fact, since there's a Harry Potter reboot in the works at HBO, we'd like to suggest the representative as a potential cast member since she has the whole Hufflepuff look down — striped yellow tie included!

Making a fashion statement while others are showing solidarity seems inconsiderate

In March 2022, Lauren Boebert attended the State of the Union address, during which President Joe Biden discussed Russia's invasion of Ukraine. While plenty of those at the U.S. Capitol decided to use their fashion to make a solidarity statement — most notably First Lady Jill Biden, who showed up in a blue-and-yellow outfit representative of the colors on Ukraine's flag — Boebert used the opportunity to further showcase her political views.

The United States Representative showed up draped in a shawl that had "Drill Baby Drill" written on it, a clear message that Boebert supports gas extraction and drilling. Now, while we understand that she likes using fashion to further her political agenda, she could have saved this shawl for another occasion, as the focus during this period was on showing solidarity with those suffering during an international conflict. At the end of the day, this was a rather inappropriate fashion move by the congresswoman.

Now, if you enjoyed looking at all of Boebert's rather questionable fashion choices, make sure you check out Jill Biden's most inappropriate outfits and Melania Trump's biggest fashion missteps. After all, Boebert isn't the only lady in the world of politics who's had her fair share of fashion faux pas!
