The Complete Transformation Of Aubrey Anderson-Emmons

When viewers were first introduced to Aubrey Anderson-Emmons on "Modern Family," she was just 4 years old and was cast in Season 3 to replace the twin babies who had originally played Lily Tucker-Pritchett. While most girls her age led fairly normal lives, Anderson-Emmons attended her first Screen Actors Guild Award at the age of 5 and would go on to be the youngest ever to win the bronze statue. There was no fanfare over her outfit of choice, however, and instead, Anderson-Emmons settled for a hand-me-down. "She borrowed this dress from a neighbor. The neighbor has a first-grader and she said she kept everything. I asked if she had a dress we could use for the SAG Awards. So she brought over a bunch, and [Aubrey] loved the ruffles," her mom, Amy Anderson, told People in 2013.

Since then, Anderson-Emmons has attended countless awards shows and nabbed two more SAG awards — all before becoming a teen. Now, at 17 years old, the "Tailwinds" actor is no longer recognizable as the precocious Lily, and fans won't believe her stunning transformation over the years.

Even as a little kid, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons delivered as Lily Tucker-Pritchett when she was first cast in "Modern Family." It turns out that show business runs in her family, as her mom, Amy Anderson, worked as a stand-up comic and actor. "Show business is not for the faint of heart and it is not for most, but there is a special breed of freak who just can't resist the spotlight. I truly believe you are born with this freak gene and my kid seems to have inherited it from me," she wrote in a 2011 blog post.

At that age, Anderson-Emmons naturally didn't need any makeup, and she was captured in front of the cameras sporting her naturally wavy hair. When she did get dolled up, she wore simple styles like laid-back ponytails. Of course, she couldn't resist a fancy dress every now and then, and her red-carpet poses just proved that she handled the spotlight like a pro.

By 7 years old, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons was used to being in the spotlight, and fans saw her attend more red-carpet events. No longer a toddler, she spent her elementary school years with longer tresses that she often wore loose, which showed off her natural auburn highlights. Despite being a seasoned actor, the thrill of starring in a hit show was still new, and she told City News in 2014, "There's lots of fun parts about working on Modern Family." And how many 7-year-olds can say that they went to the Emmys three times by that age? 

Even as a primetime-television star, Anderson-Emmons still enjoyed the normal things in life, stating in an interview with Shay's Way that her favorite things to do were playing with her friend Raegan and raising her three goats. She also experienced what many kids around her age do, which is getting a set of braces. Fortunately for her, they weren't on for too long, and by the next year, they were already gone. For these few years, her hair and clothing styles stayed mostly the same as before. Her hair was typically worn down, and her clothes remained colorful and playful. 

No longer a little kid, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons celebrated a milestone birthday on June 17, 2017. "10th Birthday Party is in the history books! Thank you @coldstone for this amazing, personalized photo cake! Aubrey had a horse riding themed party and a collage of her own riding photos made birthday ice cream cake even sweeter!" Amy Anderson wrote on Instagram. 

The following year, Anderson-Emmons shared a birthday selfie of herself eating a red velvet cupcake and captioned it, "11th birthday AND 5th grade graduation all in one day! WOOHOO!!!!" This time, she looked a bit more sophisticated with straightened hair and a silver horse pendant. Anderson-Emmons also started wearing a bit of makeup on red carpets but kept her look kid-friendly with just some shimmery pink shadow, a subtle swipe of eyeliner, and a hint of gloss. As a tween, she naturally wanted to start getting glammed up for the cameras, and the pop of color did wonders to bring out her features.

As Aubrey Anderson-Emmons entered her teen years, her style became bolder, and she wore trendier 'fits on red carpets. For the TCA Party in January 2020, she embraced colorblocking in her wardrobe with a bodycon midi dress. Adding to her sophisticated look was the perfect power ponytail. When the official "Modern Family" Facebook page shared her look, a fan commented, "Wow, I love her! what a beautiful young lady. It been awesome watching her grow up over the years." Another shared, "Dear goodness. Isn't it only some months ago since Cam held Lily up and Circle Of Life played? How much she changed since then (in every possible way)!"

Sadly, "Modern Family" ended in April 2020, but that didn't stop Anderson-Emmons from living her life. "I want to try to be on 'Dancing with the Stars,'" she told Showbiz CheatSheet a few months before the series' finale. The young fashionista also seemed to be finding her own aesthetic niche. In November 2022, she debuted two-toned hair on Instagram, with one side blond and the other brunette. "[M]adly in love with the new hair super cutes," a fan commented. In another post, the then-15-year-old is seen rocking the unique style while posing next to a goose. "Omg your hair is beautiful," an Instagram user gushed. We're sure Anderson-Emmons was an inspiration to all her fans who wanted to try a bold new look.

At almost 18 years old, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons has literally grown up in the spotlight, but she's just a normal teen at heart who just wants to go to a dance with a boy. In June, she posted a before-and-after clip of her prom look, which featured a layered bob with bangs and a gorgeous black corset-top dress. She kept her makeup simple, with just a hint of eyeliner and natural pink lips. "[P]rom with @phoenix.reed99," she captioned the post, showing a clip of her date. "No one's going to tell Mitch and Cam?" a fan joked, referencing her "Modern Family" dads.

In a TikTok shared in August, Anderson-Emmons showed fans that her skin isn't so perfect all the time. "I have chronic eczema and I'm currently in a flare-up," she revealed. Because of her skin condition, she keeps her makeup and skincare routine as simple as possible, choosing products that are fragrance-free. That doesn't stop her from living her best life, however, and in a September Instagram post, she showed off her flirty side with a white button-up tube top and ruffled skirt. Her fashion these days seems to gravitate toward a '70s hippie vibe, with long flowy skirts and crocheted shirts.

Besides acting, Anderson-Emmons is also a musician and practices with her band, October. She looked every bit the rock star with her wavy bob and slashed T-shirt, as she shared on Instagram. With all her talents, who knows where we'll see her next — it just might be on the stage at Coachella or back on television on "Dancing with the Stars."
