The Worst-Dressed Celebs At The AMAs 50th Anniversary

A momentous year in music calls for some marvelous awards-show coverage, and there's no better event to celebrate our favorite songsters than the American Music Awards. Held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California, the AMAs award the greatest artists across music's many genres. The 2024 American Music Awards marks the 50th anniversary of this star-studded gathering for music-industry maestros, and this year, plenty of pop-culture history was made. Legendary recording artists from Nile Rodgers & CHIC to Nelly hit the stage, for a start -– plus, Jennifer Lopez stepped out in her first awards-show appearance since filing for divorce from Ben Affleck.

While there's much to be said for the evening's musical entertainment –- which included performances from notable guests like Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, and Raye – many fans watched the AMAs for its guests' outfits alone. With glamour girls like Jennifer Hudson and Sheila E. in attendance, the AMAs red carpet was a sight to behold, but, as always, there were a few off-key ensembles out there, too. So, if you're searching for serious fashion fails at this year's AMAs, look no further: Glam's gathered the worst-dressed celebs at the 2024 American Music Awards for your inner style critic's enjoyment.

Raye's light dimmed a bit with this dowdy look

Across-the-pond popster Raye typically slays, hence why we're so crestfallen to see her red-carpet flop at this year's AMAs. The British beauty turned up in what we can only describe as a cosplay mashup of animated MTV stars Daria and her style-opposite sister, Quinn Morgendorffer, wearing a brown, dowdy pullover; green, grungy miniskirt; and black, mismatched slides.

Natasha Pestano Rice's neon footwear fell flat

Natasha Pestano Rice may serve culinary delights to the stars, but her outfit on the 2024 American Music Awards' red carpet didn't serve very much. Clad in a figure-hugging little black dress, the celebrity chef and nutritionist completed her 'fit with a pair of bright-pink mini boots. While her choice of footwear was a bold styling move, it didn't quite meld with her midi-length mesh dress.

Indi Star's cozy look felt uncouth on the red carpet

There's nothing wrong with prioritizing comfort over chicness, but Indi Star pushed the envelope a bit with this ultra-casual look at the 50th American Music Awards. The blond beauty from Boston arrived in a brown, knit top and maxi-length skirt with white athletic trainers and oddly mismatched accessories. Some may approve of Star's unconventional approach to traditional awards-show garb, but we've never been the biggest fans of wearing sneakers with dresses.

Enola Bedard's ensemble was a fire-engine red flop

If there's one thing we can say about Canadian social media sensation Enola Bedard, it's that she wasn't afraid to play with color at the 2024 American Music Awards. However, Bedard's bright-red sleeveless gown was just a touch boring. With little more to look at than a midriff mesh panel, the star's crimson garment may have matched her lipstick perfectly, but it didn't quite manage to make a splash for us.

Kailyn Smith's strappy style didn't exactly strike a chord

We'll give Kailyn Smith extra credit for her incredible green tresses, even if we weren't terribly impressed with her styling picks at the 2024 American Music Awards. Wearing a rather quirky mishmash of what can only be described as athleisure-does-bondage, Smith capped the bizarre black 'fit off with some chunky, black platforms. With no extra embellishments, the look was simply one-note.

Liv Swearingen needs to swear off feathers for a bit

Creator Liv Swearingen seems to know baby blue is her color — and we'd have to agree — but she'd have been better off without the feathery accoutrements on her sleeves. Despite the powdery pastels in this outfit working in her favor, there was something strangely off-putting about the chunky appliqués scattered across her blazer. Essentially, she had the opposite problem as Kailyn Smith, and without the appliqués, this could have been a passable look, even if slightly safe.

Daisy Kent's dazzling LBD just narrowly missed the mark

Daisy Kent was yet another celeb who couldn't steer clear of shiny things, as evidenced by her slinky black dress dripping in jewels. Unfortunately, pictures didn't do her justice — while the star's shimmering slip was eye-catching in motion, its limp, motionless tassels didn't translate quite as nicely through still images.

Sophia Culpo's chic mini was a touch overdone

Last but not least, Sophia Culpo completes Glam's roundup of the worst-dressed celebs at the 2024 American Music Awards. Culpo's flashy, black blazer was undeniably sharp, but the micro-mini look paired with strappy, black heels has been done to death on this year's red carpets. That said, Culpo's hair and makeup were executed so beautifully that we nearly let this tired look slide.
