Celebrity Looks That Had Us Swooning In August 2024

As August — and summer — are nearly coming to an end, we've rounded up our favorite celebrity fashion moments of the month. There are no specific rules to this list, except that the outfits had to be worn by notable figures and be very, very memorable. Of course, with quite a few Hollywood premieres, music events, and award shows happening this August, selecting our favorites wasn't easy.

While we don't want to spoil the full list, we'll tell you that the celebs we picked as the most stylish ones of August 2024 couldn't be more different — we've got glamorous Hollywood divas (cough, cough — Halle Berry — cough, cough) on one side and eccentric and avant-garde pop stars (think everyone's favorite "Femininomenon" singer) on the other. However, every single one of them has managed to show off a look that was unique and eye-catching, whether thanks to its intricacy or striking minimalism. So, without further ado, here are our favorite fashion moments of August, all in chronological order.

August 1: Chappell Roan's wrestling-inspired look in Chicago

Chappell Roan's style transformation keeps surprising us, as the musician heavily explores what drag-inspired fashion has to offer. Case in point: Roan appeared at Lollapalooza in a lucha libre-inspired outfit as if she was ready for the wrestling ring instead of the festival stage. The look was loud, bold, and colorful — everything we love about the "Good Luck, Babe!" singer. A big part of Chappell Roan's stage look is also her dramatic makeup, and it definitely didn't disappoint at Lollapalooza. The entire look is so specific that we predict it will become a very popular choice for Halloween costumes.

August 8: Sabrina Carpenter's stunning gown in Santa Monica

Sabrina Carpenter's style transformation has epitomized girly-pop fashion throughout her career, and she rarely disappoints. For Variety's 2024 Power of Young Hollywood event, the singer wore a yellow Miu Miu dress that was embroidered with crystals all over. What truly separated this look from everything else we've recently seen from Carpenter was that she switched out her signature voluminous curtain bangs for more casual waves peeking out of an updo. And while we're usually not a fan of folks with blond hair rocking clothing that matches their hair color, Carpenter absolutely proved us wrong.

August 8: Bella Thorne's all-yellow moment in Los Angeles

Bella Thorne's style has certainly changed a lot over the years, with the former Disney star exploring various aesthetics. For the 2024 HollyShorts Film Festival, Thorne decided to give us a modern interpretation of '80s fashion, neon colors and shoulder pads included. However, the star of the night — or stars, really — were her neon yellow eyelashes, which perfectly matched her boxy blazer. While every piece of the look was simple, together, they all created a look we will remember for a long time.

August 12: Halle Berry's sheer seduction in Los Angeles

For the premiere of her new Netflix movie "The Union," Halle Berry decided to serve us lace. The 58-year-old actor showed up in a see-through lace number that literally had our jaws on the floor. A look like this can quickly become tacky, but Berry added the perfect amount of glamour by incorporating subtle accessories and keeping her hair and makeup simple. Frankly, we can't imagine many others pulling off a see-through dress like this one with so much sophistication.

August 14: Nathalie Emmanuel dialed-up-to-11 LBD in Los Angeles

We can always count on Nathalie Emmanuel to give us classy fashion with a modern twist. For the premiere of Peacock's "The Killer," Emmanuel went the safe route with a timeless black gown. And while that in itself isn't really spectacular, it's the combination of the black-velvet bodice and crepe skirt that gave the classic piece a modern touch. Of course, pulling off the Elie Saab gown without statement accessories is no easy feat, but Nathalie Emmanuel was perfect for the job.

August 17: Suki Waterhouse's flowy dress in London

Taylor Swift invited Suki Waterhouse to open for her on night three of the Eras Tour in London, England, and she didn't disappoint. Apart from giving concertgoers a stellar performance, we couldn't help but swoon over the ethereal Chloé dress she was wearing. In fact, the star herself swooned over it as well, calling it "the dress of my dreams" on Instagram. And while the whimsical piece looks incredible in photos, it's with Waterhouse's movement onstage that the dress truly comes alive.

August 18: Jenna Ortega's Beetlejuice bonanza in New York City

Jenna Ortega has been on a press tour for her upcoming movie "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," and the looks she has served us have been immaculate. Picking one was tough, but we decided to go with her matching striped blazer and mini-dress combo. In a true Beetlejuice manner, the actor combined the pieces with striped stockings and edgy black heels. Do we smell a chunky platform shoe comeback? Either way, Beetlejuice-core is bound to be a major trend this fall, and Ortega's promo look is a great example of how to rock it.
