The Stunning Hair Transformation Of Noah Cyrus

We have to admit that it must be hard being Miley Cyrus' younger sister. "I hated going to school and hearing about 'Hannah Montana' and Miley Cyrus all the time," Noah Cyrus confessed to The Standard in 2020. "It made me feel embarrassed. I wanted to blend in. I just wanted to be Noah, not Hannah Montana's sister." Given that she had to walk in her sister's shadow, it's admirable how the 24-year-old has managed to set herself apart from Miley's fame and pave her own path to stardom. In fact, the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and producer and director Tish Cyrus shines in her own right as a successful actor-singer-songwriter. 

Apart from her undeniable multiple talents, the "Hannah Montana" actor (she appeared in six episodes) and singer of the 2016 platinum single "Make Me (Cry)" often steals the spotlight with her beauty shenanigans. Take, for example, her 2015 stunning (and swift) hair transformations: From natural brunette, Noah went to a shaved 'do, switched to almost white blond, and then colored her locks purple before ditching it all for a bright pink wig. And that was just the beginning!

From the sweet younger sister all the way to Grammy nominee for best new artist, Noah Cyrus has transformed herself through the years — and as she rose to fame, the songwriter experimented with her looks and locks alike.

While growing up, Noah Cyrus found inspiration in her older sister, Miley Cyrus, even as she navigated her own path to stardom. "I would say, really genuinely, my sister is really inspiring ... Miley really went through this evolution of making her own lane in music, and making her own music and being her own person," she told Forbes. "I think that's something that really inspired me as a young little girl, was seeing someone be so strong and confident in themselves and really paving their own path."

Keeping her hair in the same ginger blond shade as her sister in the series, the aspiring actor/singer was definitely more of the sweet girl next door than the pop culture icon she is today. We certainly loved the length and the shade of her hair, and it perfectly complemented her green eyes. However, Noah knew that if she were to pave her own way, much like her sister had done, she had to pave her own way away from "Hannah Montana" — and anything that resembled her. Enter the singer's "darker" years.

The rise to stardom did not come without any repercussions on Noah Cyrus' mental health. In a candid 2017 interview with Refinery29, Cyrus admitted that the haters' comments on her social media accounts sent her into a spiral of depression."They were really affecting me. Like, really bad. I was getting really depressed from them, and hurt, and would cry for hours over things," she said. "It was killing me every time I read something slightly hurtful, and I just couldn't take it anymore."

These darker emotions had begun to surface in her music, as well as in her appearance when the actor ditched her ginger blond hair for a lustrous black. Not shying away from the spotlight (or the scissors), Cyrus chopped her waist-long locks and gave them a bit of a layered updo to add some dimension. The change was definitely a huge leap from her previous more natural hair color. And, while the former softer hues made her look like the sweet girl next door, the darker shades made her a bonafide star, albeit giving her overall look a more somber vibe — one that mirrored the struggles she was facing.

In 2018, Noah Cyrus was on her way to finding a newfound purpose and confidence with the release of her first album, "Good Cry," and the change was aptly reflected in her new bob cut – and the dad-bob looked absolutely fantastic on her. Complementing her jawline and providing a more youthful, vibrant aura, Cyrus' once shoulder-length locks were certainly beautiful, but the new bob cut gave the star a more polished and refreshed appeal. As she regained her emotional health, her hair also looked healthier and more lustrous than ever.

Daring to play around with her hair length, she played it safer when it came to her hair color. Keeping her overall dark hue, Cyrus lightened it up from previous years, taking her locks to a seemingly deep brunette color. And if we may say so, the contrast with her fair complexion made her look even more glamorous!

Even though eyebrows don't really count as hair-hair, we would be amiss not to mention Noah Cyrus' drastic hair change (both eyebrows and otherwise!) in 2023. Appearing with bleached eyebrows, painted lips, and long, single-layered straight black hair that fell loosely around her shoulders, the singer looked nothing like her former self — and Cyrus' dramatic "Morticia Adams" appearance left her fans speechless. While some loved the look, others were quick to draw connections to Marilyn Manson's appearance. Plus, not everyone was sold on the browless vibe.

However, long gone were the days when the "Hardest Part" singer would let such comments sadden her. Staying true to herself, Cyrus rocked any style she wanted, knowing that haters would hate — no matter what. And we have to bow to her bravery to sport the bleached brow look and applaud her ingenious ways of keeping fans on their toes.

If Noah Cyrus' fairytale-like hairdo doesn't count among one of the most stunning celebrity hair transformations of 2024, we're not sure what else does. The star clearly knows that basic hair colors are out and red highlights add extra warmth and flair to one's locks.

Speaking to Luxy Hair, Cyrus' hairstylist, Michael Dueñas, admitted that while he loves working with all of his A-list clientele, Cyrus is a special collaboration. "I do ... turn into a little kid and fully let my guard down with Noah Cyrus and Tiffani Thiessen. We are so unbelievably similar in certain respects; it feels like I have known them forever," he said. And given the songwriter's willingness to experiment with different lengths, hairstyles, and highlights, we can completely understand why the Garnier consultant loves working with her.

Her latest hair transformation has certainly wowed us all, and Cyrus completely owns the extremely long, almost-to-the-knee hairstyle — and with such a dramatic look, we commend the singer for being an icon with a capital "I."
