We Recreated Sabrina Carpenter's Doll-Like Makeup To Test ColourPop's New Liquid Blushes

Sabrina Carpenter is the it-girl on everyone's lips, and it's not just because of her hit songs, like "Espresso," that we can't stop singing. From Carpenter's iconic haircut and color to her effortlessly flushed cheeks, the pop star's look is being recreated by fans everywhere. Thankfully, we even know the exact blush Carpenter uses for her trademark rosy cheeks: It's Armani Beauty Cheek Tint, and her makeup artist mixes two shades to create her look (53 Bold Pink and 62 Delicate Mauve).

Before you run to your nearest Sephora, though, you should know you don't need those exact shades to get the "Feather" singer's ethereal glow. When ColourPop announced that it was launching a new line of liquid blushes, I knew it was the perfect time to finally try my hand at recreating Carpenter's cheeky makeup look. Testing out a new line of blushes was just an added bonus.

With eight gorgeous colors to choose from and at only $10 a pop, it's easy to throw the whole lot into your shopping cart. However, I went with Angel Face and Wildest Dreams — two shades that are both in the pink family but have enough contrast to layer the colors just like Carpenter's makeup artist does. As soon as I got my hands on them, I couldn't help gushing over their adorable packaging, and once I tried on the colors, I knew that these liquid blushes would be a mainstay in my makeup collection.

Sabrina Carpenter's doll-face blush with just one color is a simple way to recreate her look

For a simple take on Sabrina Carpenter's doll-face blush, I tried one ColourPop Liquid Blush on each cheek. Angel Face, pictured on the left, is described as a "warm-toned pink" on ColourPops's website, but we found it to have a hint of mauve. The pigment is amazing but goes on sheer enough to be buildable. The blush comes with a doe-foot applicator, and I used it to place two dots on the high points of my cheek. Because Carpenter's makeup is less about heavy contouring and more about an overall flush, I patted the blush with a flat kabuki brush and then blended it with a fluffy angled brush. The result was a very pretty soft pink glow that's perfect for an everyday look.

Next, I applied Wildest Dreams on the other cheek and immediately noticed this color isn't for the faint of heart. It's a bright fuchsia shade that would look amazing on those with darker skin tones, but it's also great on anyone who wants to add a more prominent pop of color to their face. We all know that Carpenter has a more-is-more approach to blush, so this shade definitely gave me the rosy cheeks she's known for — and without making me look too heavily blushed.

The two-blush trick is the way to go for nailing Sabrina Carpenter's doll-like cheeks

Sabrina Carpenter loves bold blush, and we know that she relies on at least two shades to get her camera-ready. Armed with my two ColourPop shades, I first applied Angel Face on the apples of my cheeks and blended the color up and out with a flat brush, making sure not to go below where I would normally contour. I then placed two small dots of Wildest Dreams on the highest points of my cheekbones and gently tapped the color in so as not to disturb the previous blush. Finally, I used my fluffy brush to seamlessly transition the two colors together — a great liquid blush tip for achieving a perfectly blended look — and swiped some color on the bridge of my nose for a sun-kissed finish.

The key to rocking Carpenter's doll-face blush is to blend as much as you can. In fact, her makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez told Byrdie, "It's important that everything looks like skin. I don't want to detect where things start or end." Luckily for us, it's easy to recreate the "Please Please Please" singer's trending cheeks with ColourPop Liquid Blush's formulation and buildable color, no matter which two shades you decide to rock. We didn't experience any downsides to this new liquid blush line, and we'd even go so far as to say it's a pretty good dupe for the slightly more expensive Soft Pinch Liquid Blush from Rare Beauty.
