"I knew this tour was harder than anything I'd ever done before by a long shot," Swift admitted in her 2023 Time interview. And while it's been the most physically demanding string of performances yet, Swift has always made sure to put on a fabulous show for her fans, which means that exercising and eating healthy has been a major priority for the star. What does Taylor Swift do to get and stay in top-notch shape?

Apart from muscle-building physical exercises, Taylor Swift has always worked on her stamina to ensure she could hit those notes while dancing on stage. In a 2010 interview with WebMD, the musician revealed that running is one of her favorite types of exercise. "For me, running is about blasting a whole bunch of new songs and running to the beat. It's also good because it makes me find a gym wherever I am," Swift said. Apart from running, she also loves walking around and sightseeing. "I'm very much out in the world, and I love exploring the places we go when we tour. It's important for me to live a full life," she added — and we all know just how much a hot girl walk can do for our bodies.

Kirk Myers, the star's trainer and founder of the Dogpound Gym in Los Angeles and New York City, divided Taylor Swift's Eras Tour workout routine based on whether she was touring or taking a break. "When she's not touring, we're in the gym up to six days a week for sometimes two hours a day," he explained to Vogue. Even when the star has multiple shows in a week, she still manages to get to the gym and train, ensuring her energy and endurance remain high.

"Taylor trained during the entire tour. We would average two times a week. In-season training was more about maintenance, and so it was more like stability, mobility, biomechanics," Myers added. "If you've seen the show, you know how intense it is physically. Imagine doing that three, four days in a row and then you finally have a few off days and you're still showing up to [the] gym. That's Taylor." 

It's clear that Swift wanted to give her fans the best show possible, and in order to do it, she needed to be in top-notch form. For WebMD, Taylor Swift admitted that she does pay attention to what she eats, but she avoids being too strict with her food. "During the week, I try to eat healthily, so that means salads, yogurt, and sandwiches," the star revealed in 2010. "No sugary drinks. I try to keep it lighter, but it's nothing too regimented or crazy. I don't like to create too many rules where I don't need them. We know what's good for us, thanks to common sense." The star added that on weekends, she loves indulging in her favorite foods like burgers and fries, ice cream, and any baked sweets.

In 2012, Swift opened up to Bon Appétit about her eating habits, admitting that eating regularly while touring isn't easy, which is why she also occasionally eats at midnight. "It's not good to eat late! But on tour there's dancing, and tight dresses, and I get shot out of a catapult-like lift," the star revealed, referring to the "Speak Now" world tour. "You make up your own rules." And while her eating schedule isn't strict there is one healthy habit that Swift has always followed. "I have so much water in my dressing room — because I drink, like, ten bottles of water a day. That's pretty much all we have in there," she added. So, while Swift isn't depriving herself of her favorite comfort foods, the fact that she works out regularly and drinks plenty of water makes up for it.

"I do not leave my bed except to get food and take it back to my bed and eat it there," Swift revealed. "It's a dream scenario. I can barely speak because I've been singing for three shows straight. Every time I take a step my feet go crunch, crunch, crunch from dancing in heels."

In her interview with WebMD, Swift shared a similar sentiment, admitting that she indulges in days off after she feels like she's earned them. "I have a need to feel like I've earned things, so when I have a week of working really hard, I get to have a day or two off — whether it's from exercise or watching what I eat," Swift said. The rest the musician takes is not only well deserved but also crucial for her well-being — but after that short time away, she gets back to her workout routine with full force. "Taylor is the most resilient person I have ever met," trainer Kirk Myers gushed to Vogue.
