The Worst-Dressed Celebs At The 2024 Golden Globes
There's no denying that the past year has been an incredible one for movie buffs. Films like "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" broke post-pandemic cinema records and even spawned a popular (yet unofficial) double feature for summer moviegoers: "Barbenheimer." The excitement surrounding these films and more was palpable at this year's Golden Globes ceremony, which was attended by some of the biggest stars in film. Held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, the 2024 Golden Globes featured appearances from A-listers like "Friends" alum Jennifer Aniston and nine-time nominated "Barbie" lead Margot Robbie.
Aside from the movie buzz, there was plenty of glitz and glam on the red carpet at the 81st Golden Globes. Naturally, Margot Robbie donned a bit of hot pink to pay homage to her role in "Barbie," while "May December" star Natalie Portman wore a spectacular multicolored gown from Dior. But what would an awards ceremony be without a few questionable garments? The stars didn't let us down in that regard, and we have the photos to prove it. Now, take off your on-trend opera gloves and grab the popcorn — it's time to take a look at the worst Golden Globes looks of 2024.
Emily Blunt
Though we can appreciate Emily Blunt's pertinent color choice at the 2024 Golden Globes, our admiration for her outfit ends there. We were puzzled by its abrupt shift from glittering gold into a flouncy, sheer white skirt, and we weren't the biggest fans of her clunky statement necklace, either. If nothing else, it reminded us of an unfinished costume for a high school theatre department, albeit slightly more intricate.
Billie Eilish
Leave it to Billie Eilish to grab everyone's attention on the red carpet. Unfortunately, the "What Was I Made For?" singer's Golden Globes 'fit caught our eyes for all the wrong reasons. While it's always refreshing to see something different from the norm, we weren't sure how to feel about the singer's avant-garde approach. On one hand, her coral socks and black Mary Janes matched her two-toned hair to a tee. On the other hand, the choice to round things out with a clunky, oversized suit jacket and billowing khaki skirt was completely lost on us.
Ayo Edebiri
Let's get one thing out of the way first: Ayo Edebiri looks absolutely dazzling in red. Her satiny gown is a perfect shade of true red, the type you spend your life looking for in a lipstick shade. So, why did Edebiri end up on our worst-dressed roundup at this year's Golden Globes? It may sound trivial, but it came down to the tailoring of her dress. We weren't fond of its unusual bodice, though we liked the gown's train a lot.
Jennifer Aniston
At every red carpet event, there's bound to be one (or more) underwhelming outfits on display. At the 2024 Golden Globes, it quickly became clear that "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston decided to rock a sensible — yet yawn-worthy — little black dress. Though the classic silhouette and understated styling choices looked elegant enough, they were simply boring. Considering our disdain for safe choices at awards ceremonies, Aniston joined the ranks of our worst-dressed crew.
Gina Torres
While browsing the racks at T.J. Maxx in the past, we're certain we came across something similar to what Gina Torres wore to the 2024 Golden Globes. Was she stunning? Absolutely. Her sheer black top and bold, printed skirt were eye-catching, and her hair and makeup were on point. However, the combination of simple separates felt far too casual for a red carpet. Thus, we were left with no choice but to place Torres on our worst-dressed list.
Victoria Garrick Browne
The Y2K-inspired trend continues to rage on red carpets, as evidenced by endless tousled updos and halter gowns. Victoria Garrick Browne followed suit with a shimmering brown dress and strappy heels, but we felt her overall look was slightly more appropriate for prom than the Golden Globes. We would have loved to have seen some bouncy, Old Hollywood waves in her hair instead of another spiky bun from the early aughts.
Cody Heller
There are plenty of things to like about television writer Cody Heller's Golden Globes look, from her gown's striking indigo color to her beautiful, flowing locks. Sadly, we were distracted by the uncomplimentary shape of her dress design. From its awkwardly cut bustline to its sky-high slit, we found ourselves feeling blue over Heller's attire. Furthermore, the rest of the ensemble — including a pair of bright blue, satin stilettos — did little to sway our opinion.
Quinta Brunson
It's no secret that metallics are in for 2024, and Quinta Brunson was ahead of the curve with this dazzling champagne gown. Still, we weren't quite as impressed with the structure of the dress itself, from its exaggerated halter neckline to its stiff, boxy skirt. With a few minor adjustments, we could easily see Brunson earning a best-dressed nod for this starry look instead. But as it stands, it was rather elementary.
Keltie Knight
Canadian television host Keltie Knight was onto something at the 2024 Golden Globes, but her execution fell a bit short. Her mauve maxi gown was as glamorous as could be, but the shoes were a different story. From their unnervingly mismatched hue to their shockingly high platform heels that didn't match the tone of the dress, Knight's pinkish pumps left us speechless — and not in a good way.
Elizabeth Banks
It turns out that Jennifer Aniston wasn't the only celebrity at the Golden Globes who decided to go with a basic black gown at the 81st Golden Globes. Joining her was none other than Elizabeth Banks, who opted for a figure-hugging strapless gown with sparkling details. With glowing makeup and dangling statement earrings, the "Bottoms" producer was a vision, but we found ourselves wanting more. Beyond that, we weren't quite as smitten with her wet hair look, which felt out of place with the style of the gown.
