How To Get Megan Thee Stallion's Iconic Eyeliner Look
Have you always wondered how Megan Thee Stallion always looks so gorgeous? While we can't look exactly like the rapper, at least fans can channel her vibe by recreating her makeup. Of course, this starts with her iconic eyeliner, which is known for being sharp and cat-like. "It was the first thing I learned how to do from watching YouTube ... So I did it every single day until I perfected it ... It became another way to express my personality, style, and creativity, so I really enjoyed experimenting with makeup and loved how it made me feel," Megan told PopSugar.
On June 28, 2022, the "Savage" rapper shared a YouTube video teaching viewers how to get the glamorous effect for themselves. Unsurprisingly, Megan's fun and enthusiastic personality is evident in the video. She plays relaxing jazz music as she explains the steps to follow for her day-to-nighttime look. Understanding the breakdown of what to do for each step will help you get a Megan Thee Stallion-approved look and do winged eyeliner like a makeup pro!
What products you'll need for Megan Thee Stallion's look
For the eyeshadow part of her look, Megan Thee Stallion uses the Revlon ColorStay Day to Night Eyeshadow Quad in Pretty and Moonlight, available for only $6.99 on Amazon at the time of writing. The rapper also uses the Revlon ColorStay Brow Pencil in dark brown, selling for $8.39 at Ulta for her brows. This comes with a spoolie on one end, so if you use another brow pencil, make sure you have a clean spoolie on hand. For the brows, you'll also need a small amount of concealer to sharpen the edges.
Megan uses Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in brown and black to do her eyeliner, which you can purchase for $7.20 at Ulta. While she didn't name her makeup brushes, you will need at least a few eyeshadow brushes to build up some depth, and one brush to blend the different colors together. To highlight the area beneath your eyes, you'll also need a foundation that's a few shades lighter than your skin tone and a beauty sponge for blending. Megan uses Revlon ColorStay Longwear Makeup, which retails at $15.99. Finally, Megan finishes the look with a set of false lashes and applies them with the Revlon Expert Tweezer Slant Tip. Once you have what you need ready to use, it's time to apply your makeup!
Color your brows
In the entertaining and informative YouTube video, Megan Thee Stallion applies other eye makeup products before working on the liner. So, if you want to commit to doing your eye makeup just like the rapper's, you'll want to start with the brows. Take your brow pencil and gently color over your natural brows, filling in sparse areas. Megan makes the bottom edges of her brows sharp by applying concealer directly beneath them with a flat liner brush. Get rid of any smudges with your fingers and then fluff up your brows with the spoolie.
Build up your eyeshadow
Next it's time for the eyeshadow. Following Megan Thee Stallion's lead, begin with a light-pink eyeshadow around the crease of your eyes, using a light hand and fluffy brush. Then add more glittery pink to the lid and in the crease, before going in with a darker pink toward the outer corners of the eyes. As Megan says, it should give "Valentine's Day." Next, blend the colors together with your blending brush before adding a deeper pink-brown shade into the crease. Finish with the light shimmery pink, which you'll layer onto your lids and also just under your brow bone to highlight the area. Then again, as Megan advises, "Blend, blend, blend."
Add some eyeliner to your lower waterline
First, Megan Thee Stallion applies some eyeliner beneath her eyes in the waterline. "I feel like eyeliner under the eyes definitely pipes the look up and definitely wakes your eyes up," she explains. Go in with your brown pencil and trace your lower lash line to enhance your eyes.
Start to form a wing with your liner
Once Megan Thee Stallion has her lower liner done and ready, she extends it out past the outer eye corner and adds some liner on top of the eye, spreading it thicker at the outer corner to a wing-forming line. Along with using the brown pencil, add some brown eyeshadow to the wing. Work with short, steady strokes rather than longer strokes, so you have more control over the line you're creating.
Highlight your under-eye area
To make your final eye look pop and lift everything, apply some light foundation to the area beneath your eyes. While you could use concealer for this step, Meghan Thee Stallion explains that she uses light foundation specifically. Aim for a color that's at least a few shades lighter than your skin to brighten the area, and blend with a beauty sponge. If you'd like to use foundation on your entire face, go ahead and apply it during this step.
Enhance the wing look with more eyeshadow
Once you've highlighted your under-eye area, polish your winged eyeliner further by adding more eyeshadow. Megan Thee Stallion applies shimmery pink eyeshadow from her ColorStay palette to the inner corners of her eyes to make them "pop" before following the winged eyeliner line with brown eyeshadow to further emphasize the wing shape. The results are striking graphic wings that look like they were created with eyeliner only, rather than eyeliner and eyeshadow, because of their sharpness.
Apply your false lashes
To complete your winged liner look, turn up the drama factor with some false lashes. Megan Thee Stallion uses strip lashes, which she glues on using a set of tweezers, but you could also use individual lashes or cluster lashes if you have a little more time and are going for a more precise look.
Add darker eyeshadow and eyeliner
To bring the look to more of a "nighttime" vibe, Megan Thee Stallion smears the ColorStay Eyeliner Pencil in black — instead of brown — underneath her eyes for more of a statement-making, bold look. She also applies darker brown eyeshadow underneath her lash line and to her crease. So, if you want more of an intense night-out look, don't forget to finish off with this final step.
