Olivia Rodrigo's Favorite Perfume Is A Foresty, Floral Dream

Sometimes, a good dose of girly revenge-romance pop is all you need to kickstart your day. And if you're an avid listener of the genre, then you're no stranger to Olivia Rodrigo or her Grammy-nominated albums "Sour" (which also won a Grammy in 2022) and "Guts." But more than lyrically oversharing about her breakups, rebounds, and her drive-by past her ex's house in her song "Driver's License," the singer has shared another piece of her life. This time, it was her favorite perfume.

In another GQ episode of "10 Things Celebrities Can't Live Without" posted to YouTube, Olivia Rodrigo shared her favorite perfume, Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Baccarat Rouge 540. In the video, Rodrigo admitted that she was never really into perfumes until she smelled the Baccarat Rouge 540: "This is the one for me," she confirmed, highlighting that she loves how the perfume isn't sickly or artificial. The fragrance, which is a heady mix of woody and floral notes, retails at $325 for 2.4 ounces of product at Nordstrom, at the time of writing. Besides Rodrigo's stamp of approval, the unisex Baccarat Rouge 540 has a lot going for it, starting with its fantastic note profile.

What does Baccarat Rouge 540 smell like?

Baccarat Rouge 540 is a decadent mix of floral, woody, and sweet notes that come together to give a slightly foresty outlook. At the top of Rouge 540's note profile are saffron and jasmine, which give the scent spicy and floral properties on the first whiff. In the middle of the perfume are ambergris and amberwood for some more ambery goodness, and at the bottom are fir resin and cedar for their unique woodiness.

The scent mix of the Baccarat Rouge 540 is so good that some reviewers on TikTok and verified retailer websites can't stop raving about it. One reviewer on Fragrantica stated: "I won't stop wearing it, and I love the original Baccarat Rouge 540 despite how many dupes are out there or how many people are wearing it!"

However, a few other reviewers have shared grievances with the perfume, with some calling it "overhyped" and finding it overly sweet and spicy, while others focused on the excessive price point. The verdict? It seems like this is a polarizing scent, so you'll just have to try it for yourself.

Are there any alternatives to the Baccarat Rouge 540?

We might have the same breakup issues as Olivia Rodrigo and maybe even the same taste in perfumes, but we definitely do not have her account balance. And while Maison Kurkdjian's Baccarat Rouge 540 is a worthwhile buy filled with all our favorite notes, spending up to $325 on a 2.4-ounce bottle of perfume is not exactly realistic for many people.

Thankfully for us and our savings, there are several pretty close dupes to the perfume, one of them being the Zara Red Temptation, which retails at $35.90 for 2.71 ounces. You can also try Brazilian Crush Cheirosa '68 from Sol de Janeiro, which is a hair and body spray featuring jasmine and pink dragonfruit, and retails at $38 for 8 fluid ounces of product. And our final recommendation for dupes would be Oakcha's Sweven, which normally retails for $69 and contains ambroxan and evernyl for a spicy floral mix.
