The Best Coachella 2023 Looks To Inspire Your Summer Fashion

The first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicked off with some incredible artists and even more amazing outfits, which the music fest is known for bringing out. From performing musicians to smaller influencers, each person that attended brought their carefully curated looks that have begun to set the tone for the 2023 summer festival season.

Before we get into it, let's consider some of the most iconic trends that have come out of the festival over the years. Some notable styles include boho-chic, space cowgirl aesthetics, monochrome looks, and Y2K-coded ensembles. This year, we are still seeing a lot of these specific trends with the addition of maximalist denim outfits and lots of rhinestones. On top of that, many celebrities are bringing it back to the earlier days of Coachella by wearing extremely basic and functional outfits that are appropriate for almost any summertime get-together. Weekend one defines the fashion trends that everyone from professional stylists to young high schoolers will be wearing for the next few months. We can't wait to see the designs that weekend two will provide.

GloRilla

GloRilla showed up to Coachella in a two-piece Canadian tuxedo courtesy of Tommy Hilfiger. The Hilfiger brand has been a summer staple for its versatile denim. The painted red, white, and black designs on her jacket and jeans provide a new angle on the classic jean pairing. Underneath, she's wearing a navy blue underwear set to match along with red Nike shoes.

Tyga

Tyga appeared on stage during A Boogie's set last weekend wearing a cream-colored Prada matching set and rocking his classic two-strand twists. The denim combo has a boxy cut that flairs a bit to keep him feeling cool. We've been seeing a slight uptick in this style, particularly with the use of linen instead of denim, as it's much lighter for the summer heat.

Latto

Even though Latto got some heat for photoshopping her Coachella crowd from weekend one, there is no denying that she slayed in her reimagined cowgirl fit that included a tan beaded bodysuit, cut-off short shorts, and fuzzy R13 cowboy boots. This aesthetic was not uncommon, especially for performing celebs. Becky G, Olivia Culpo, and Flo Milli also used old western fashion influences in their Coachella looks.

Umi

Umi kept things grounded in her colorful ensemble which featured a boldly patterned shawl over her Emilio Pucci Goccia-Print Maxi Skirt that she's wearing as a dress. In addition to her sunflower earrings, the "Remember Me" singer accessorizes with layered necklaces. Her natural hair texture adds to the look giving her a distinct sunny vibe.

Weyes Blood

Natalie Mering, the singer-songwriter known as Weyes Blood, wore a long, angelic white gown with a cape on stage during her set. It's the same dress we saw her wear in late March when she performed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. White dresses like this one saw some popularity during prom season, and we can't see it waning anytime soon.

Fousheé

New Jersey native Fousheé wore a curated fit consisting of a black utility kilt and high-neck tank. The classic black two-piece set with silver hardware looked incredible against her platinum blonde hair and natural-looking makeup choices. Though it's difficult to pinpoint exactly where she found this outfit, her matching boots were tagged with Givenchy on her Instagram. Due to the basic nature of the ensemble, you could likely find similar pieces for a lower cost at stores like H&M.

Dominic Fike

Dominic Fike is well known for his edgy style which is showcased on the HBO hit "Euphoria." On stage at Coachella, the singer and actor toned it down just a bit wearing a brown tank top and baggy dark-wash cargo pants. While performing at the Outdoor Theater, Fike's cargo pants act as a reminder that skinny jeans are still out.

Joy Crookes

Joy Crookes, who performed in the Gobi tent during weekend one, wore an incredible white hooded mini dress by Ferragamo and red heels with straps that wrapped around her calves. The singer, who has more than 2.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, is a fan of the 26-year-old designer Maximillian Davis. Davis is known for his elegant and unique designs that are loved by trend-setting celebs such as Kim Kardashian and Rihanna.

Tyler, the Creator

Tyler, the Creator frequently reps his own brands, and Coachella was no different for the rapper and fashion designer. Performing alongside Kali Uchis, he wore a Golf le Fleur pink camp shirt and a chain that featured the classic OFWGKTA cat. The artist, who never seems to appear without an accessory, also chose to hang a hair pick that he designed from his belt. Other outfit-completing items include a blue terry cloth bucket hat, cut-off khaki shorts, and socks with sandals which are a Tyler staple in the summer.

DPR Ian

Christian Yu, who goes by the stage name DPR Ian, effectively wore very little during the first weekend of Coachella. He stayed stylish with a metal-look silver satin jacket, no shirt, and blue bell bottom trousers that appear to be the MM6 Maison Margiela Wide Leg Wool Blend Pants. Combined with a pair of heeled bedazzled boots, the 32-year-old Australian singer truly shined on stage and left his fans, who he calls "Dreamers," in a state of awe.

Emma Chamberlain

No list of iconic Coachella outfits is complete without Ms. Emma Chamberlain. The young YouTuber-turned-coffee-entrepreneur showed up in a comfy white two-piece set accessorized with a cream-colored vest and a vintage Diesel crossbody bag. Chamberlain's Coachella outfit is the epitome of functional luxury. Her shorts appear to be similar to the Goddess Ribbed High-Waist Hot Short from alo, which shows off a silhouette that is quickly becoming a staple for summer.

Elyanna

Elyanna is a Palestinian-Chilean singer and songwriter who became the first performer in history to do a full set in Arabic at Coachella last weekend. The revolutionary artist donned a dressed-down bridal-core outfit that is setting the tone for this season. She also wore a veil that was attached to her curly space buns, a classic hairstyle for past Coachella festivals. On Instagram, Elyanna tagged her skirt from Mimi Prober and her white tank from I.AM.GIA.

Flo Milli

Like Umi, Flo Milli wore a boldly patterned bikini with a matching shawl by Emilio Pucci. Her black embroidered cowboy boots, also designed by Pucci, matched perfectly with the ensemble. It appears that the designer, Camille Miceli, made a large collection from the Marmo-Print, worn by the artist in addition to some custom pieces worn onstage.

BLACK PINK

The K-Pop girl group that has been consistently breaking records donned vampy black and silver ensembles at one point during their set. This summer, we may be seeing more looks in black that are still weather appropriate. One thing is certain, cutouts and mesh details aren't going anywhere just yet.

Becky G

Our cowgirl queen Becky G has been talked about non-stop since showing off her royal blue outfit on stage during the first weekend of the festival. She wore a sparkly blue two-piece underwear set, a bolero-style denim jacket, and matching cargo pants. On her feet were the NIKE Air Force 1 '07 Low Sherpa Fleece which have a bright blue swoosh to match the rest. With her cargo pants unbuttoned, her matching thong peeked out of her pants for a classic '90s look on top of the existing Western influences.

AliyahsInterlude

AliyahsInterlude, an influencer known for her impeccable style and Aliyahcore outfits, wore a combination of clothing that can only be described as Barbie mixed with classic rave and balletcore aesthetics. We're obsessed with the tiny jean shorts, mesh crop top, and the color coordination throughout. Her leg warmers deserve an honorable mention. They appear to be similar to the Rave Wonderland Pink/Silver Fluffy Leg Warmers.

Patrick Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger's son, Patrick, donned a stand-out cardigan with an L.A. Dodgers hat and dad jeans. His Alanui sunset landscape cardigan is currently sold out on Neiman Marcus, and there appears to be no talk of a restock yet. Still, there are many other cardigans out there now that look quite like it. You could choose another cashmere Alanui option, or choose a different colorful cardigan made of something more appropriate for summer bonfires.

Saweetie

Saweetie jumped on the Y2K trend for Coachella sporting a recognizable Von Dutch trucker hat and blue denim shorts. As a top, she wore a custom candy core Matthew Reisman bikini-style top with a matching belt. If you aren't sure what to wear this summer, bright colors and candy-like textures are it. Thanks to Saweetie's Instagram, we also know that her amazing jewelry is courtesy of Twila True Fine Jewelry Source.

Cassidy Condie

Cassidy Condie is consistently on trend, representing Gen Z. Like others who rock this popular style, Condie dressed for the outdoor festival wearing Cider's Grass Ain't Greener Wide Leg Cargo Jeans, a white tank top, a simple star belt from Jaded London, and a New York Yankees hat.

Doechii

A popular brand at the festival, Diesel, was not left behind by Doechii. The musician wore head-to-toe Diesel clothing including a silver cybercore mini dress, a tiny handbag, and silver heels. All of these pieces were seen together from their Spring Summer 2023 Runway Show collection. Expect to see more items from this collection as we finish weekend two.

Iyla

The 29-year-old R&B singer Iyla wore a simple outfit to the second day of the festival consisting of a white tank, thick denim, and chunky loafers. While a white tank top and good pair of jeans can be found anywhere, the black ASOS Design Miller chunky loafers stand out as a necessity for elevating the look. Iyla's signature natural red wavy hair completes this outfit, which communicates a kind of comfortable fashion.

Kali Uchis

Kali Uchis had one of the most incredible outfits to date on the stage last weekend. Wearing a custom Dolce and Gabbana patchwork denim ensemble, she stole the show among other fashionable artists like Tyler, the Creator and Omar Apollo who joined her on stage for her set. The outfit was littered with blue butterflies and silver sequin details that are common in Uchis's aesthetic. The "After the Storm" singer also showed off a custom belt buckle with "Kali" embossed on it.

Saba

New textures have dominated recent fashion, and Saba's outfit certainly showed this. He wore cozy-looking pants that mimicked moss with fuzzy blobs in coordinating tones. On top of a white t-shirt, he also amazed us with a leather vest and a unique brown beanie. Out of many of the well-dressed people at the festival, Saba definitely stood out. Comments under his post on Instagram vary from praising him for his bold choice to worrying about how warm he must have been on stage.

Big Wild

Big Wild, a performer known for interchangeably using several instruments during his sets, impressed his fans with a fully satin moment in royal blue. However, what really became the focus of his outfit is the tinsel jacket that he wore on stage. The light-refracting clothing item was made by a small designer, Amanda Pfeiffer, who sells her designs on her Etsy shop, The Brightside Finery. In the midst of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, we expect unique pieces such as this to get even more attention this summer.

Jamie Jones

DJ Jamie Jones wore a casual look in earthy tones for Coachella. You wouldn't even expect that the Pleasures brand shorts he's wearing are sold out and going for more than $100 on most second-hand sites. Along with some classic aviator glasses, Jones's look is a stylish and popular aesthetic that's common among Coachella crowds. One thing we must applaud him for is his Y-3 Marathon Trail Adidas shoes, which are perfect for a long and spread-out festival such as this one. Stay cool Jamie!

Taylor Grey

Pop artist Taylor Grey chose a flowy white ensemble to wear during Coachella's first weekend. It gives off a certain beachy cowgirl vibe with the tiny top and billowing miniskirt. Her boots, which are visible in pictures on her Instagram are the Mariposa tall western boots from Free People. Her necklace and her tan bag tie the whole outfit together for an undeniably fashionable Coachella look.

Ethel Cain

Ethel Cain took a more costumed approach for her Coachella outfit this year. She showed up in a red cheerleader-core set that included a letterman's jacket and cropped tee that were both embroidered with her stage name "Cain." Along with USA Converse shoes, this fun ensemble screamed vintage American cheerleader.

Sydney Morgan

Rocking the Crara rhinestone boots by Cape Robbin, Sydney Morgan spent part of weekend one wearing a sparkly blue mermaid moment that included a Dolce and Gabbana chain link top, a mini denim skirt, and a matching shiny blue bikini set underneath. Mermaidcore outfits such as this are quickly becoming a vibe for the summertime, and Sydney executed hers with her signature flair.

Mackenzie Ziegler

The youngest Ziegler sister appeared at the festival last weekend in a cream-colored see-through crochet dress. It's hard to tell if it's giving elevated farm girl or coastal grandma, either way, we are loving it. She accessorizes with knee-high riding boots, a large belt, and a heart-shaped necklace which completes the whole thing.

Eric Nam

The flowy and beachy aesthetic doesn't end with the "Dance Moms" veteran. South Korean-based artist, Eric Nam, killed it in his summery outfit worn with some recognizable sunglasses. His shirt, which is definitely the focus of the outfit, is from a somewhat lesser-known designer, General Admission, based in Venice, California.
