The TikTok Body Scrub Hack That Makes Lathering Up Mess-Free

Using a sugar scrub may sound like a chance to indulge in a tasty treat, however, they're meant to make your skin look absolutely delectable. Although you may find that using a body scrub can effectively remove any grit and grime from your skin, Shel Pink, the founder of SpaRitual, explained to Byrdie, "The benefits of exfoliating your body include breaking down and removing dead skin cells from the top layers of the skin to reveal healthy skin cells (and skin texture) beneath ... [as well as] stimulating and increasing blood circulation."

"We recommend exfoliating your body one to two times per week for sensitive skin, two to three times per week for normal skin, and three to four times per week for oily skin," Pink also noted. In order to end up with the kind of results that you're surely looking for, you'll ideally use it after having a bath or showering. On top of that, you should completely dry your skin before applying the scrub. However, if you prefer to get everything done while you're in the shower, then that can still work. Just grab a small amount of the scrub and do just that: scrub, scrub, scrub.

When you're done, you may find that you're left with super-smooth skin. You might also end up with a big mess thanks to the fierce exfoliating action. That is unless you use the TikTok body scrub hack that makes lathering up much less messy.

This body scrub storage idea is both clever and sweet

The next time you purchase your favorite sugar scrub or whip up a DIY version, you might want to pick up something specific first. That's according to the video that was shared on TikTok by Kelsey Venkov.

Starting off with a clip that appears to show Venkov shopping, she isn't in the bathroom section. Instead, she's in an area that offers kitchen supplies. That's where she grabs a honey pot. Yes, that's right, a honey pot you'd see Winnie-the-Pooh carrying around. Much like a typical little cookie jar, Venkov's has a lid with a tiny section notched out on the edge. This is where the honey dipper, the wooden tool you see, sticks out. When she gets home, she doesn't put honey in her new pot but instead fills it with her ooey, gooey sugar scrub. She then puts the dipper in the mixture, pops on the lid, and places the jar on a shelf in her shower, ready to be used the next time she wants to exfoliate. By doing so, she makes sure the scrub stays secure in between uses and gives her the chance to scoop up what's needed without getting it everywhere.

While this may be your new favorite mess-eliminating hack, there is something that you need to consider before you hop out to grab your own body scrub honey pot.

Choose a specific kind of container for your body scrub

When Kelsey Venkov shared her hack involving storing body scrub in a honey pot, a few of her TikTok followers expressed concerns in her comments. While some wondered if the scrub would be affected by any water that made its way into the pot, others worried about the potential of mold growing under the wooden lid. On top of that, there were quite a few people who noted that they would be afraid to have a glass pot in the wet shower where it could be knocked to the ground or slip out of their hands. After all, no one wants broken glass around their bare feet.

That's why you might be interested in a little advice for storing your body scrub in a way that will keep both it and you safe. For instance, instead of opting for a delicate glass honey pot, you might want to consider finding one that has a similar look but is made from plastic and doesn't contain BPAs, according to Elizabeth Rider. She also recommends preparing a reasonable amount at a time so that it won't be sitting around for too long and keeping it fully covered. This will hopefully keep mold away, along with icky problem-causing bacteria.

If you can't find a plastic honey pot, perhaps you can pick up an unadorned plastic container and decorate it yourself, which would surely be a fun, productive, and adorable project.
