Modern Ways To Pull Trendy Pearls Into Your Wardrobe

Once so rare that they were worn only by the very wealthy, pearls have once again circulated into our own wardrobes with a modern twist (via PBS).

Luckily for us, pearls are much more affordable today than they once were, whether they are imitation pearls or the real deal. And no matter what type of pearls they are, they still add a touch of elegance to any look, even to the most casual of outfits. While once worn mainly on studded earrings and simple necklaces, more and more modern styles are being evolved out of traditional pearls.

The pearl trend is in full swing with these newfound styles hitting the shelves of our favorite fashion destinations, as well as hit royaltycore shows such as "Bridgerton" blowing up in popularity. It has left us all wanting to bring a touch of the classic, vintage pearl into our wardrobe in a trend experts are calling "pearlcore." We have curated six ways to pull the pearlcore trend into your wardrobe this season, so take a look.

Hoop earrings

Pearl-adorned hoop earrings are one of the latest ways to style the classic gem. Hoop earrings are a staple in the modern woman's wardrobe, so this is a great way to combine something old with something modern. These are statement accessories, so often they are worn with other minimal jewelry pieces. Whether it is one pearl hanging from a classic hoop or multiple pearls placed around the hoop, this pearl trend seems to be a fan favorite among fashion lovers.

Pearl choker

We can thank Vivienne Westwood for the recent pearl choker trend. Celebrities like Bella Hadid and Vanessa Hudgens have been seen in the Vivienne Westwood Mini Bas Relief Pearl Choker that arguably started the entire pearl choker trend. Of course, other pearl chokers are also available that do not contain the unique crystal orb on the strand. Plain pearl chokers layered with other gold necklaces are another common way to style the trend.

Pearls on other accessories

Who said pearls are only for jewelry? This season, we are putting pearls on other accessories as well, such as headbands, clips, and bags. Pearls on causal accessories are perfect for everyday wear. "I think the most refreshing way to wear pearls is out of their traditional landscape," celebrity stylist Tiffany Briseno told InStyle, speaking on the current pearlcore trend. Brands have been quick to add pearls to their accessories as well, with popular accessories designer Lele Sadoughi ensuring her namesake brand has pearls on everything from its headbands to its bags.

Baroque pearls

Pearls don't have to be perfectly circular to be considered fashionable. In fact, uniquely shaped pearls (or baroque pearls) are trending this season. They are still natural but lack a round shape. Fashion influencers and celebrities alike are loving baroque pearls, wearing pieces with irregular sides and multiple sizes.

Pearl rings

We often wear rings to symbolize important events in our lives, such as an engagement or marriage. "Pearls have become a symbol of self-growth and spiritual growth," creative director and founder of jewelry brand MAREI Angie Marei told The Zoe Report. This is something important that can also be symbolized in an everyday ring. Every day when looking at your hand, you can remind yourself that you have made it through challenging years and are learning and growing. Pearls on a ring can be on a stretchy strand or one singular pearl on a metal base.

Dainty and delicate

Small or single pearls on pieces of jewelry and accessories are a simple way to take on the pearl trend. Wearing one pearl or a few pearls on a strand is often seen as more modern than a full strand of pearls, as common pearls back in the day were worn by the strand-full. Preppy style often falls under the dainty and delicate pearl category, as those who appreciate classic preppy style are often not looking to make too much of a statement with overwhelming jewelry
