Would You Spend $65 on a Safety Pin?

Sonia Rykiel- Crystal Safety Pin

I never thought I'd see the day where I would consider spending $65 on a safety pin but this one has crystals on it. See?

When I started blogging I had no idea that I would meet so many cool cats along the way. Most online relationships start and end there but if you are always out on the town ... You end up taking the mayhem offline. Some of my awesome blogging pals that I spend time with offline include; We Love Beauty's Ben Bennett, Style It's Sarah Conley, 55 Secret Street's Nichelle, and one of my favorite's ... my girl Lianne from The Makeup Girl.

Lianne and I are always causing trouble (read: fun) we we get together during Fashion Week. Any girl that is worthy of causing a ruckus with me if worthy of getting all the help I can offer her when it comes to raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness.

The Makeup Girl is giving away an AWESOME prize pack on her blog right now and the only thing you have to do to enter is to be nice:
Breast Cancer Research Giveaway!!

And those are just a few of the things that you can win. The rest are all limited edition.

For every $10 you donate, you are eligible for a chance to win an amazing prize package valued at $300 (there is some GOOD stuff in there). The Makeup Girl would LOVE to raise $1000, so give what you can but if you want to be eligible for the basket, your donation has to be a minimum of $10 ;-)

Fashion Kitty and The Makeup Girl at New York Fashion Week (a little tipsy I must admit)

How easy that is? We can all give up a measly $10. Just say no to one tube of lip gloss at Sephora or perhaps you can give up your morning latte and bagel (your hips will thank you too.)

iVillage turned to your Kitty for her expertise on tights for Fall 2008. Check out the complete story here>>

Do I more thoughts about tights for Fall 2008? Well of course I do...

The inspiration:

- Gossip Girl: The fall 2008 shows in New York and Los Angeles were clearly inspired by Gossip Girl, which looks rely heavily on hosiery. Lots of bright colored legs walked down the runway especially purple and red. The Gossip Girl schoolgirl look is also inspiring knee high and over the knee socks as well. If you are really daring you can layer the socks over a pair of bright tights.

- Rodarte: Their Fall 2008 collection went wild with knit tights. The look was a distressed high-fashion fishnet, which will be perfect for women who cant handle the preppy Gossip Girl look.

Hot Looks:

- Colored Tights: Red, purple, bright blue, hot pink colors are great colors to wear on your legs. Make sure the tights are opaque; it will make for a better punch of color.

- The New Fishnet: Fishnets will always be in style but for fall 2008 we will see a new breed of fishnets. These new fishnets will be made of yarn-like material, cut in wider nets, and will come in different colors.

- Patterned Tights: Let your legs be your accessory with patterned tights. Flowers, paisley, checks, stripes, and more. Pair these wild tights with something plain or mix and match with patterned outfits for a more bohemian look.

- Leather Leggings: Leggings aren't going anywhere! They are even rumored to be more popular than jeans this fall. This pair called Black Rats by Sass & Bide is my personal favorite- http://www.thisnext.com/item/3CFB7B4D/Sass-Bide-Black-Rat-leggings

Eco-chic Alert: Sarah Perlis

FashionKitty's recommendations at ThisNext

When it comes to eco-friendly fashions, they are never top on my list (sorry Mama Earth) but every once in a while I run into an ec0-chic designer that I actually like.

I was tipped off to Sarah Perlis this morning and I have to say, I see some real closet potential here. I usually don't go for delicate pieces [in my jewelery collection] but I really like this stuff. My hands down favorite is the initial necklace, coming in second are the crescent moon earrings, and coming in third is this amazing leaf ring.

All of Sarah's designs have recycled gold, raw gems, and conflict-free diamonds incorporated in them -- I can get down with that. Check out the rest of her designs at here site SarahPerlis.com.
